"Everyone OK?" Lena asked, checking on Robert and Elise. Elise had passed out as soon as they jumped down.
The sudden descent was too much for her, and her mind had simply shut down. Robert was there, gently caressing her hair as she lay on his lap, trying to rouse her.
"Lena, please stay with Robert and Elise. I'm going to scout the area, and I'll be back soon," Alex said, his voice steady and confident.
Lena nodded, her admiration for Alex clear in her eyes. He had been alert and decisive, warning them of the impending danger.
Once Alex was out of sight, he increased his pace, eager to survey their surroundings.
