The next day, Carrie entered through the gate of her father's house. She had woken up quite late but she still made it before eight thirty. Just as she entered the house, she sighted Gina on her father's favorite couch.
"Where've you been? We've been waiting for you. Well that doesn't matter now cause your mother in law is here to take you. Hope you've packed your things?"Gina nagged
'Mother in law' Carrie thought as she shifted her gaze from Gina to the old yet young looking beautiful woman. "Good morning ma'am" Carrie greeted as she walked quickly upstairs to her room to pack her things. She had mixed feelings about her upcoming marriage with Landon. Although, she didn't know him, she just felt something was going to be wrong somewhere. But what choice did she have. She needed to save her father's life and she would do anything.
Carrie carried her luggages to the living room then ran off to her father's room. On getting there, she sat on the stool next to his bed. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she viewed the man lying lifelessly in front of her.
This was the man who took care of her when she was young, this was the man who taught her about life, this was the man who taught her the way of life, this was the man who chose another woman over her mother, this was the man who contributed to her mother's death, this was the man who thought his step daughter was far better than his biological daughter. And for his sake she has to marry a stranger.
Deja vu came over her as she trugded past the old memory lane, which was interrupted by the voice of her step mother calling her name. Carrie slowly got up and hugged her father gently while leaving the room.
That day, Carrie was taken to the Slarks estate which costs about eight him and fifty billion dollars. She got to the family mansion with her mother in law, where she stayed for three days before the wedding ceremony.
On Carrie's wedding, She noticed that Landon wasn't at the wedding. She decided to meet her mother in law whose name she now knew as Annette. People often addressed her as Madam Annette.
"Mother" Carrie started on getting to her front. Madam Annette was with a group of people which made Carrie feel uneasy. "May I please see you for a moment" Carrie tried to sound as polite as she could.
"Of course Carrie, you can see me for as long as you want to" Madam Annette responded.
They both went outside the Slarks hall.
"What is it that you want to talk about?" Madam Annette asked with her gentle voice
"Um..... I haven't seen the groom and I'm really worried." Carrie explained.
Madam Annette chuckled for a moment and assured, "You'll soon meet your husband, trust me" Madam Annette was a sincere and innocent woman who kept to her word so Carrie trusted her.
That night, back at the Slarks estate, Carrie was taken to Landon's mansion. Of she thought the family mansion and the rest of the mansions were big, then she was wrong.
This was the definition of big. No! This was ENORMOUS.
She entered the gate of the mansion, her amber eyes exploring everywhere. The compound was large and beautiful_no doubt. She got startled when she felt a tap on her shoulder from behind. She turned around slowly.
"You must be the new wife Madam Annette was talking about." A young lady said
"Yes" Carrie paused "I'm Carrie Brontë but you can call me Carrie. Who are you?"
"I'm Linda Pridgeon, Master Landon's Stewardess. Come on in"
