All of this happened in just a few seconds. Isabella quickly threw the cake aside, took large strides forward, and just as the billboard was about to hit Bennett siblings, she caught it, the edge of the billboard just about two hand spans away from Alexander's head.
In that moment of catching it, even Isabella herself was astonished. Subconsciously, she tossed the billboard aside.
A loud bang!
"Izzy!" Alexander's face changed color. He grabbed Isabella's hand to inspect it. Isabella's palm had a small cut from the edge of the billboard, bleeding.
People around were shocked by this sudden change and started shouting, creating chaos.
Mall security quickly arrived, and soon the manager in charge came out too.
Isabella and the others had already moved to a safe place, but Alexander insisted on going to the hospital.
Isabella couldn't help but smile and cry, "It's just a minor injury."
She had cleaned it up with a wet wipe, and the bleeding had stopped.
Alexander stared at her hand, his expression ice-cold, emitting a dangerous aura. There was a hint of almost uncontrollable rage in his eyes.
Grace, standing nearby, was too frightened to speak. Ah, this was the demeanor a cold-faced demon should have!
"Alex..."
This was the first time Isabella had seen Alexander like this, and she was somewhat dazed.
At that moment, the mall manager came over, apologetically saying, "I'm really sorry, it was our mistake at work, and we almost injured the three of you. Are you all okay? Let me take you to the hospital for a checkup."
"We're fine, we're fine," Isabella waved her hand. "No need to go to the hospital."
The manager said, "It's because you caught the billboard with your bare hands, right? Is your hand really okay? Let's go to the hospital for a checkup."
Unable to resist the manager's insistence, Grace's persuasion, and with Alexander constantly emitting cold vibes, Isabella reluctantly agreed. They went to the hospital and found that it was just a small cut on the palm.
"You really caught a falling billboard with your bare hands?" The doctor, looking at the examination results and hearing the story, was also surprised. He smiled at the end, "In extremely panicked situations, people might unleash abnormal strength. It's truly a miracle."
He looked at Alexander sitting there and said with a smile, "You must really want to protect him to make such a miracle happen."
Alexander was stunned for a moment. His gaze fell on Isabella, his expression complicated, and the cold air around him dispersed slightly.
Isabella smiled awkwardly, without saying anything.
Finally, the doctor provided a medicated ointment, instructed to keep the wound waterproof, and they left the hospital. The mall manager compensated for some expenses and bought some supplements, concluding the matter.
Back at home, Alexander reached out, directly grabbing Isabella's clothes. "Let me apply the medicine."
Isabella was taken aback. "Alex wants to help me apply the medicine?"
Alexander nodded.
Isabella smiled and handed the ointment and cotton swabs to Alexander. "Then, I'll trouble you, Alex."
The two went to the sofa. Isabella sat down, and Alexander used a cotton swab to pick up some ointment. With one hand cradling Isabella's hand, he gently applied the ointment to the wound.
Isabella frowned slightly due to the pain. Her hand trembled involuntarily but quickly steadied.
However, Alexander stopped. He looked at the reddish palm, and the rage that had already dissipated once again gathered in his eyes. Fortunately, he lowered his head, and Isabella did not see it.
Isabella, puzzled by his pause, asked, "Alex?"
