Chapter 3: The Unexpected Revelation
"Hi.." The way he smile.
Somehow it gives me hope. That this day will end better despite of everything I have in my heart right now.
As I stood here the church, I couldn't help but wonder who this mysterious man was.
"Ehem.. Hi?" he silently laugh. "Abigail?"
"A-Ah Hi, hello!" I said.
"nice to meet you again"
"Again—?" I asked.
"I think this is Elijah's brother? He's too handsome to be Elijah" I heard Zoey, who had been whispering in my ear.
"Elijah! finally! you came.,, what happened?" A middle-age woman came towards us and hugged the man in front of me.
"Elijah?" I questioned.
He is Elijah? He is the one I'm going to marry? This man? This handsome man.?
"I'm sorry Mom, it's so hard for me to look for a parking lot" He was calm yet smilling while explaining to his Mom, the reason why he was late.
" that's okay son. Oh! this is your Bride. She's been waiting for you. You should apologize to her" His pointed at me, so I smiled.
"I will, Mom I'm excited to meet her again"
His mother's laugh.
And he kept on saying 'again'. but I clearly know that this is the first time I met this man.
"hello Abigail, this is Elijah, my eldest son" His Mom, elegantly introduced his son to me.
"Wait, what?" Zoey tried to interrupt.
" hello Abigail" His cold voice.
"you know me?" I asked.
" of course, I know who I am I going to marry" he cutely laughed. " let me just formally introduce myself, hello Abigail, I am Elijah your almost husband"
His voice was deep and soothing, drawing me in like a siren's song.
"almost huh?" I said, while looking at him.
I cannot deny the fact that, I can feel the peace at him. I felt hope, in the midst of chaos.
The realization hit me like a bolt of lightning.
Because of Elijah's undeniable attractiveness. His sharp jawline, piercing eyes, and impeccable sense of style left me breathless. I was able to see the expensive Patek Philippe watch contradicted the claims of his supposed poverty. It wasn't his punctuality that eased my worries, but rather the fact that he was undeniably handsome. A small smile crept across my face, appreciating his good looks and silently thanking the heavens for this stroke of luck.
The ceremony started, everyone go to their respective seats and allow me to walk down the aisle. As I walked, I saw everyone is looking at me, I saw the regret of Zoey, knowing that Elijah is a handsome man, and Liam. I saw him, finally there's a regret in his eyes. I also saw Lara, smilling at me, I can hear her saying that everything will be alright.
As I look to Elijah, I saw him smiling. It makes me feel calm and at peace, I don't know what with this man, but I feel like I'm safe. When I finally hold his hand, and we walk to the altar together, the priest started to preach, Elijah never let go of my hand. And everytime I felt nervous, he will looked at me and smile.
"how did you know my name?" I asked him in the middle of the ceremony.
With a mischievous chuckle, he assured me that he would reveal everything during our reception. His playful demeanor both intrigued and frustrated me simultaneously.
What secrets did he hold? And why was he teasing me like this?
"why? do you want me to tell you that in our honeymoon?" He joked at me.
I don't like it!
My mind reeled, trying to make sense of his words.
Was he serious? Did he actually expect us to embark on a honeymoon together? Gosh! This man!
Before I could fully process the absurdity of it all, frustration spilled out from within me.
"What the hell?!" I quietly said, unable to contain my disbelief.
The room was still listening to the priest and Elijah's mischievous smile slowly faded. Realizing the impact of his ill-timed joke.
"I'm sorry I'm just making you laugh because you're too nervous. I can feel you I'm sorry" he quickly backtracked, assuring me. And still not letting go of my hand.
His genuine desire to see me smile softened my initial anger, and I found myself letting out a hesitant chuckle. Elijah's charm had a way of disarming even the most guarded individuals, including me.
The ceremony ended with our first kiss. I felt a usual kiss yet buttefly is in my stomach. This is the first time I met this man and this is the first time I kissed him. He's smiling at me, and I tried to smile at him as well. But my eyes is looking at Liam, I saw him walking towards the door of the church and Zoey is following him.
" I know this is not your dream wedding. I may not your dream husband, I may not the one you wanted to marry, and you just do it for your sister, I know that Abigail, but allow me to be a better husband for you. Please, allow me to be part of your dream allow me to be part of your life…" I looked at the Elijah, and I can see and feel the sincerity in his heart through his eyes. It was too beautiful to hear. And once again, it gives me peace and hope.
As we collectively embarked on this unplanned and surprising expedition, a myriad of thoughts inundated my mind, leaving me pondering what lies in store for us in the vast unknown. The intricate interplay of circumstances and events, driven by a force beyond our comprehension, had meticulously orchestrated our convergence at this very moment, seamlessly intertwining our individual paths and weaving our destinies together in an extraordinary manner that exceeded the realm of any conceivable anticipation.
Is this encounter was just the beginning of a remarkable tale, one filled with love, secrets, and unexpected revelations?
