Chereads / DXD: The Awakening Of Phenex / Chapter 36 - Mental fatigue

Chapter 36 - Mental fatigue

Riser's Mansion in Kuoh

In the silence of his room in Kuoh, Riser clearly expressed his frustration. Recalling the recent confrontation with Hisoka, he experienced Mereoleona's magic for the first time. Despite the powerful Phenex lineage running through his veins, the significant amount of mana consumed during the battle left noticeable marks on his mental state.

Riser thought, "I better start training my powers. I only have three days before Xenovia and Irina arrive. Considering that Kokabiel and Vali must be stronger than Hisoka, I need to prepare."

Occult Research Club Room

Sona takes a cup of tea, sighs, and says, "It's good to be able to talk to you without being in conflict."

Rias smiles and agrees, "By the way, congratulations on Riser's victory."

Sona thanks, "Thank you, but it's Riser who deserves the congratulations."

Rias reflects on the recent situation with Riser and comments, "I know, but I feel like my relationship with Riser isn't good enough to talk to him casually."

Sona agrees, adjusting her glasses, "You're right, Rias."

Rias then shifts the conversation's focus: "And Riser's Peerage? I saw the fights, and they were all very strong. Where did he find them?"

Sona calmly replies, "I don't know."

Rias comments, "He's lucky."

Sona confidently says, "I believe in his competence to choose good members for the Peerage."

Tsubaki interrupts the conversation and says, "Kaichou, we have matters to attend to in the student council room."

Sona thanks, "Thank you, Tsubaki, for letting me know."

Sona gets up, and Rias does the same, saying, "We'll have more time to talk later."

Sona replies with all reason, "Goodbye, Rias. If you need anything, just call me."

Rias bids farewell, and Sona and Tsubaki leave the Occult Research Club room.

Akeno comments, "That was undoubtedly the best conversation you two had in the last few days."

Rias nods and says, "You're right."

Riser's Mansion in Kuoh

While Riser was in his room sleeping, in the underground training room, Merlin, Yubelluna, and Shizuku were dedicated to training. Merlin, with her vast experience, taught magic to Yubelluna and Shizuku, seeking to enhance their skills and strengthen Riser's Peerage.

Merlin instructed the girls with precision. Yubelluna, a true prodigy, absorbed the teachings with ease. Her eyes reflected determination as she practiced a variety of fire-based magic explosions.

Shizuku, on the other hand, was progressing well in Demonic Magic. Her movements were fluid, and she seemed to be adapting quickly to the complexities of magic.

During the intense training, Merlin distributed tears from the Phenex to the girls, helping them recover from physical fatigue. The flames of the tears provided revitalizing energy, allowing them to continue training with intensity.

Yubelluna, with a smile, expressed gratitude: "Merlin, your instructions are incredible. I never thought I could learn so much in such a short time."

Merlin responded seriously: "You have remarkable talent, Yubelluna. Keep it up, and you'll become an extraordinary mage."

Shizuku, while practicing a new technique, thought to herself: "This training is helping me better control Demonic Magic. Maybe I can surprise Riser-sama with my progress."

Merlin watched both with satisfaction, recognizing the growing potential. She commented: "Both of you are doing an excellent job. Riser-sama will be impressed with your enhanced abilities."

Yubelluna, with determination, asserted: "We won't disappoint, Merlin. We are committed to strengthening the Peerage and supporting Riser-sama."

Living Room

In the spacious living room, Nana was relaxed on a sofa while flipping through a magazine. Erza sat in a nearby armchair, reading a book on combat tactics.

Nana, curious as always, looked at Erza and asked, "Erza, why didn't you go train magic with Merlin today? You always say that constant practice is crucial."

Erza, lifting her eyes from her book, replied with a slight smile: "Nana, I'm already quite experienced in using my own Requip Magic. Sometimes, I prefer to focus on other forms of training to improve my skills."

Intrigued, Nana set aside the magazine and turned to Erza: "Other forms of training? What do you mean by that, Erza?"

Erza, with her determined look, explained: "Besides magic, it's essential to develop other skills. Working on physical endurance, enhancing combat strategy, and even understanding the opponent's psychology are important aspects of magical training."

Nana nodded, understanding Erza's perspective. However, her curious expression soon turned into a mischievous smile as she said, "But, Erza, sometimes it's good to relax a bit. Why don't you take a day off and do something fun?"

Erza, surprised by Nana's suggestion, pondered for a moment and then replied: "Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt. What do you suggest?"

Nana, excited, exclaimed: "How about we train together, but in a different way? Let's test our physical skills, a friendly challenge."

Erza, smiling at the unexpected proposal, agreed: "Sounds fun. Let's do that later. And why do you prefer training physical strength over magic? Don't you believe that both are equally important?"

Nana, now relaxed on the sofa, responded with a captivating smile: "I believe in physical strength because it's something I can feel directly. It's an extension of myself, and I trust it. Plus, it's fun!"
