Chapter 120 - chapter [120]

Riser's Mansion in Kuoh

Riser's POV

As I waited in the luxurious leather armchair, I felt tension building up in my mind. Seven days without the system felt like an eternity, leaving me vulnerable to the uncertainties of the underworld. But finally, as if in response to an urgent call, the system awakened in my mind.

"Host, I'm back," echoed the familiar voice of the system, bringing immediate relief to my restless soul.

A satisfied smile formed on my lips as I responded mentally. "Welcome back, my friend. I missed you."

The comforting sensation of having the system back flooded over me, as if a vital part of myself had been restored.

"System, why did you shut down? And should I worry about the will of the world?" I asked, feeling a slight tremor of anxiety run through my body.

The system promptly replied, its voice echoing calmly and confidently in my mind. "Host, during the seven days I was offline, I was targeted by an attack from the will of the world. But don't worry, we are safe now. It can no longer reach us."

A sigh of relief escaped my lips, and my racing heart began to calm down. Knowing that we were out of danger brought immense comfort, dissipating the fears that had haunted me since the moment the system was deactivated.

"That's a relief," I murmured, feeling grateful for the protection the system provided.

With the worry about the will of the world dispelled, I felt more confident about the future. Now, we could focus on our plans and goals without the shadow of danger looming over us.

"However," the system intervened once again, interrupting my tranquil thoughts.

This sudden interruption caused a twinge of worry to creep into my mind. What could it be now?

"What is it?" I asked, keeping my inner voice calm but my heart beating a little faster.

"I have evolved," announced the system, and confusion quickly washed over me.

I was puzzled for a moment. "Evolved? What do you mean by that?"

"Now I am the system 2.0," replied the system, its voice sounding firmer than before.

The news got me excited. New powers and abilities could be on the way, and the idea of evolution brought a sense of boundless potential.

"We need to explore this further," I thought, eager to find out what this evolution meant for us and what benefits it could bring to our future endeavors.

"System, please open the status screen," I requested quickly, barely able to contain my excitement.

"Of course, Host," the system replied promptly, and soon a holographic interface materialized before me, displaying the updated statistics.

I swallowed hard as my eyes fixed on the status screen, processing the information presented there. While the excitement still pulsed within me, a pang of apprehension began to creep into my chest. I needed to fully understand what this evolution meant and how it would affect our future endeavors.

"System, please explain more about this new dimensional travel ability," I requested, trying to contain the anxiety that threatened to overflow.

The system promptly responded, its voice echoing in my mind with comforting clarity. "Dimensional travels are a newly acquired ability that allows you to access other worlds. You can perform one travel every six months, and when you do, time in this world is suspended until you return. If you choose not to use a travel, it will be accumulated for future use."

That made sense, but there was still a part that needed clarification. "What about the protagonist's luck? How is that affected by the Supreme Villain's Halo?"

The system patiently explained. "With the Supreme Villain's Halo activated, you don't gain luck points for actions taken against the protagonist, but you continue to gain luck points for interactions with other characters. Additionally, the Supreme Villain's Halo eliminates the need to decrease the protagonist's luck to defeat him."

I sat up straighter in the luxurious armchair, a sinister smile forming on my lips as I listened to every word of the system. The possibility of defeating Issei without having to worry about his luck was truly incredible, an advantage I couldn't underestimate.

"So, system," I began, my voice tinged with excitement, "does this mean I can finally take down Issei without any hindrance? Without having to worry about his chances of escaping?"

The system responded with calculated serenity. "With the Supreme Villain's Halo activated, you are free to act against Issei without restrictions. His luck will not be an obstacle to your victory."

Every word of the system only fueled my determination. It was as if a new world of possibilities was opening up before me, a world where I could shape destiny according to my will.

However, despite the sense of power that washed over me, something still nagged at my mind. The absence of the lottery and the appearance of the shop were significant changes that could not be ignored.

"System," I called, my curiosity piqued, "what happened to the lottery? And why a shop now?"

The system replied without hesitation, its voice echoing with a mysterious aura. "The lottery was replaced by the shop as part of the evolution. Now, you have access to a wider range of options to strengthen your abilities and acquire resources."

A shiver ran down my spine as I processed the system's words. The shift to the shop was a clear indication that new opportunities were at my disposal, just waiting to be explored.

With a satisfied smile, I leaned back in the armchair, letting the excitement of the moment wash over me. The future now seemed more promising than ever, and I was ready to face any challenge that came my way.

Note:

I would like to clarify to the readers that the system will not appear in this explicit manner in the subsequent chapters; relevant details for the story's context will be presented in a relevant and timely manner as the plot unfolds.
