Chapter 6 - 6- Harry of the Tok'ra

*This one is a Jaffa. Apophis sect,* said Einar inwardly as he noted the presence of another symbiote within the tall figure as well as the emblem on his forehead. *Let me talk to them.*

Harry nodded, bowed his head slightly, and closed his eyes. The SG-1 team members looked at one another in confusion and then back at Harry who now was looking back up at them. Sam noticed that there was something different about the adolescent boy's expression.

"Funny you should bear hostility against us when you have standing with you a Jaffa, a servant of Apophis no less," said Einar very bluntly to Daniel in a flanged version of Harry's voice like that of the Goa'uld.

Daniel felt a sense of self-accomplishment at finally being proven correct. Sam just stood there clearly shocked at hearing Harry speaking as a Goa'uld for the first time. Teal'c was clearly astonished as well but was quicker to recover.

"I am no longer in the service of Apophis," said TeaI'c with a calm pride.

"Who then are you in service to?" pressed Einar.

Teal'c glanced towards Sam and Daniel as he replied, "I am allied with these, the Tau'ri, in battle against Apophis."

"And all other Goa'uld," said Daniel before coldly adding, "Which includes you, Goa'uld!"

Harry, or Einar, glared at Daniel and his eyes glowed as he angrily stated, "As Harry keeps trying to tell you, I am not Goa'uld!"

Daniel just shook his head as he sarcastically replied, "Oh I see. The glowing eyes and the voice are just my imagination then."

"Daniel!" said Sam in a low but stern tone before turning back to address Harry/Einar. "Harry...or is it Einar?" After a short nod from Einar, Sam continued, "You see we have been deceived by the Goa'uld before since they have the ability to speak as humans. And we have never seen nor heard of instances in which any Goa'uld are different."

Einar nodded understandingly before turning towards Teal'c.

"What is your name, Jaffa?" asked Einar calmly.

"I am Teal'c of Chulak and a friend of the Tau'ri."

"I would like to express my feeling of admiration for you, Teal'c of Chulak. To not only break from Apophis but to also turn to fight against him despite overwhelming odds shows great spirit and conviction of character," said Einar honestly much to the astonishment of everyone in the room. "I am part of a faction which broke from the Goa'uld two millennia ago in resistance against Ra to free the galaxy from his tyranny."

"That sounds familiar," said Daniel causing the others to look towards him. "Just a few months ago we were paid a visit by another Goa'uld. She claimed to share our desire to overthrow Ra before attempting to transform this base into breeding ground for new Goa'uld."

Einar's eyes narrowed at hearing this and he replied, "You are describing a Goa'uld queen. Which one?"

Daniel didn't answer right away due to his memories of the events of that day so Sam answered for him, "Hathor."

Einar flinched at hearing the name. "Hathor? One of the Queens of the Supreme System Lord Ra, of course. You are fortunate to have defeated her."

"How many queens are out there?" asked Sam.

Einar paused for a moment before replying, "I am uncertain. Harry is my first host and I was alone for a long time before he found me so my knowledge of the current state of affairs of Goa'uld Empire are limited. Most of my knowledge was provided to me and my brethren by our great queen Egeria."

"Egeria, Roman goddess of fountains," said Daniel now intrigued but still suspicious.

"Yes. She was the one who founded our movement the Tok'ra a millennia ago with the help of her friend Jolinar of Malkshur."

Teal'c's eyes widened as he looked at Einar with realization. Sam noticed this. "You know what he's talking about Teal'c?"

"Indeed. There is an old legend among the Jaffa for them to speak of concerning a group of Goa'uld who opposed the ways of the System Lords. This group is called the Tok'ra. It was my teacher Bra'tac who first spoke to me of them."

"Against Ra," said Daniel with interest.

"And who is this Jolinar?" asked Sam with curiosity.

"Jolinar once tried to overthrow one of the System Lords but was defeated when Apophis joined the battle. He escaped during the slaughter of his armies," said Teal'c.

Einar nodded as he said, "I am somewhat familiar with that battle. It was part of a wider effort to seize control over the Goa'uld Empire. Jolinar of Malkshur, who was a she by the way, was once a lieutenant in the ranks of the System Lord Cronus. She had hoped the bad blood Apophis and her former master had would've prevented him from coming to his aid however she was wrong. The battle all but eliminated the Jaffa armies of the Tok'ra and the remaining Tok'ra themselves were forced into hiding. From that point on the Tok'ra had abandoned open warfare in favor of covert operations such as infiltration, sabotage, and on occasion assassination."

"What makes the Tok'ra different from the Goa'uld?" asked Daniel still skeptical.

"The Goa'uld take hosts against their will and forcibly suppresses them. The Tok'ra however only accepts voluntary hosts and the two exist in a symbiotic relationship."

Needless to say everyone in the room was astonished by this revelation and continued to listen as Einar continued describing the differences between the Goa'uld and the Tok'ra. The story of Egeria was particularly intriguing. Despite being physiologically similar to Hathor, she was nothing like the Goa'uld queen who tried to transform the base into a breeding ground for new symbiotes. Even Daniel seemed to be warming up to their unique guest and found himself wishing he met Egeria instead of Hathor.

The group were interrupted at the sound of the door opening and looked over to see Jack, who was standing in the doorway on crutches. Einar lowered his head for a moment turning control back over to Harry.

"Jack, how are you feeling?" asked Harry in his normal voice.

"Oh quite peachy. Well except for my knee." Jack paused for a moment and there seemed to be an atmosphere of silence in the room. "You know I heard the strangest thing. I heard that we rescued a child who possessed very interesting powers only to learn he wasn't what he appeared."

Harry looked at Jack as his anxiety increased. Einar offered to speak for him but Harry declined. "I know, Jack. But Einar is not a..."

"Okay stop right there, Harry or Eeyore or whatever you call yourself!" said Jack in an elevated tone.

"His name is Einar..." corrected Harry before Jack cut him off again.

"Whatever!" Jack took a deep breathe before continuing, "You could have told us before."

Harry quickly countered, "And would you have still trusted me?"

"I might." said Jack.

"Really? From what I understand your people immediately jumped to conclusions as soon as you found out about Einar without giving either of us the benefit of the doubt. Can you honestly say that it would've made a difference if I had told you?"

Jack looked like he was about to say something but closed his mouth. Sam looked down with a guilty expression and Daniel appeared to be in deep thought. Harry wasn't sure what Teal'c was thinking but he figured that's just the way he was. After a brief inward conversation Einar agreed that Harry should speak for the both of them for now.

"We're sorry you had to find out this way. For a thousand years, the Tok'ra have been forced to remain in hiding and continue the fight against the Goa'uld through infiltration which required they...we appear as Goa'uld. It is most distasteful from what I've seen from Einar's genetic memory and he agrees with me.'

Jack nodded with understanding, having gone on a number of black ops himself. He found himself regretting having yelled at Harry and he could tell Sam and Daniel felt the same way.

Harry signed as he continued, "I do not know if there are any of us left out there. Finding them would be very difficult since the Tok'ra often relocate to avoid capture. By definition, the Tok'ra have become a secret society not unlike the Wizarding World on Earth."

"Wow, it appears our people have something in common," announced a female voice from just outside the cell.

Everyone turned and saw a woman about the same age as Daniel and Sam walk into the room. She was wearing what appeared to be a military uniform with a somewhat similar camouflage pattern to the woodland battle dress uniform but it also included an overcoat of some sort with the same camouflage pattern. A patch showing what appeared to be a modified version of the American Eagle was present on her uniform. What stuck out most was what she was holding what appeared to be a wand that looked somewhat similar to Harry's but was a bluish color which matched the woman's eyes. Everyone in the room was surprised by the new arrival but none more then Sam who just looked at her with both disbelief and recognition.

"Savannah?!" exclaimed Sam in shock at seeing her cousin.

Savannah smiled at her cousin as she replied, "Hi Sammie."
