Wang Ling was suddenly having a very bad feeling when the entire sect heard a commotion from the main entrance. He learned about the Heavenly Demon Emperor's legacy in the statues from the Fiendgod Scripture he obtained years ago.
The scripture contained the Fiendgod Blood Refinement technique which allowed him to quickly grow in power as he absorbed the souls, bloodlines, physiques, and cultivation of talented individuals, as well as many insights on the Dao left behind by the Heavenly Demon Emperor.
How could he not know about the sect founder's final legacy? He spent years looking for ways to destroy the impossibly tough stone and obtain what was rightfully his and he wouldn't allow anyone to take it from him.
It took a lot out of him to go to the entrance without looking too panicked or worried.
By the time he arrived, a small crowd already gathered and was standing around the debris of the main entrance. When they saw him coming, they parted for him to look at what happened himself.
Normally he would feel smug about how he, someone who used to be a street rat, was now the direct disciple of the Grand Elder and was respected and feared by the usually arrogant demonic cultivators but all that didn't matter in the slightest at the moment.
The two statues were destroyed, the debris lying around, and most importantly, his treasures were stolen from him. He was seething with anger and fury but he could skin some unlucky fellow later, now he needed his things back.
"Notify the elders, get them out of seclusion if you have to!
I want whoever did this to be in front of my door in an hour, alive.
If I don't see results by then, I will feed all of you to my Gu"
With this threat, the surrounding disciples ran away, off to capture anyone they had a grudge with. They didn't doubt their senior brother's cruelty but that didn't mean they would just turn up empty-handed if they didn't find the culprit.
Seeing everyone gone, Wang Ling's angry face lost its mask and turned outright demonic from anger.
"Shit, shit, shit, SHIT, SHIT, SHIIIT!!"
He kicked one of the nearby debris with such force that it instantly disappeared beyond the horizon.
"How did he manage to destroy the statues?! Who did this?!"
Before he could continue to rage, he felt an unbearable pain in his back and heard an emotionless voice.
"I can answer these questions"
I originally wanted to break into this guy's house but when I felt him rush here, I just decided to wait for him. He obviously knew about the things in the statues from somewhere but was never strong enough to get them.
The moment he was alone, I sneaked behind him and grabbed him by his spin, Omni-Man style.
"Who are you?"
He barely managed to squeeze out these three words which was pretty impressive, most wouldn't even be able to think clearly, not to mention speak as they were being lifted by the spine.
"Does it really matter? I'm something beyond names, even if I told you my name and didn't go insane from hearing it, it would mean nothing to you"
Wang Ling gritted his teeth in anger and pain so hard that they began to shatter before he found the determination to do something that caught me off guard.
He twisted his upper body until he managed to hold my wrist with both his hands. Instead of trying to make me let go, he seemed to have recognized our power gap and instead pushed himself off me with a loud and disturbing sound.
*Knack*
I looked stunned between the L2-L4 vertebrates in my hand and the literally spineless but somehow standing man in front of me.
Such decisive ruthlessness to oneself was rare, especially in demonic cultivators. He was using his qi to suppress the pain and remain standing, even if he had no feelings from the waist down. Even if I let him live, it was unlikely that he would recover from this and he would have to live with this pain for the rest of his life.
"You're right, I don't care who you are but you will regret messing with me"
He no longer had the same arrogance and will to fight in his eyes he did a few minutes ago, now all I could see in them was pain and defiance. He didn't even care about the treasures right now, at the moment all that mattered to him was to survive, revenge could come later.
I didn't try to stop him as he took out a golden talisman from his ring and disappeared in a golden flash.
Far away, on an entirely different continent, a golden flash appeared, revealing a panting young man bleeding profoundly from his lower back.
Some beasts smelled the blood and got excited thinking they found an easy meal, only to die before even getting a bite. Wang Ling absorbed the beasts to close off his injury but if he wanted to heal his spine, he would need a stronger beast, like a dragon or phoenix.
"Phew, finally safe"
After the pan and dread of death disappeared, the anger returned.
"Just you wait for my return, will make you regret ever touching me. I will return this humiliation a thousandfold and make you spit out everything you stole from me"
Before he could shatter his newly healed teeth in anger again, a familiar emotionless voice sounded in his head.
"Sounds fun. Where can I sign up for participation?"
