Chapter 215 - Cultivation 16

The Divine Yang sect wasn't stupid, it had foreseen the signs of a Beast Tide long ago and posted a mission to help fight it immediately.

There were no requirements for accepting the mission but anyone under the Spiritual Sea realm would be bullied. This mission gave points out based on the number and strength of beasts killed but it also had a small reward for just joining. Many people sought to take advantage of that and simply sit back and watch others deal with the tide.

At least this kind of bullying was kind of justified.

Considering I just spent eleven years in retreat, waiting another two months for the tide was nothing.

The two months flew by quickly and I used the time to let myself be promoted to an Inner disciple and read books in the library. The books there were horrible and I don't mean the cultivation manuals or combat techniques, the few books used to pass the time were so bad they couldn't be put in words, the only acceptable thing was their weird poems.

The Beast Tide had been gathering and growing in a nearby forest, and by nearby I mean a few thousand kilometers away, a short distance for someone with average power here. From what we were told, the tide would head straight for one of the many fields the Divine Yang sect used to grow spiritual herbs. No one seems to even suspect that suspicious behavior.

Hours before the tide even arrived, I could feel the ground shake and the stench in the air. The confidence of many was already starting to break before they saw the first beast, pathetic.

"Get ready!" the only elder who was watching us shouted.

That guy is in the Integration realm, why isn't he just snapping the Beast Tide away, the strongest beast was only in the Soul Transformation realm. These old guys usually love to bully those below them, don't tell me they suddenly feel like killing weak monsters is beneath them.

The moment the first monster appeared on the horizon, everyone threw their techniques at it. That poor creature in the Purple Palace realm was bombarded by the combined might of thousands of cultivators with cultivation way higher than it, I almost feel sorry for it.

After the bait was pulverized, the rest of the tide appeared at the horizon and was approaching at a fast speed. Many had just released their technique and didn't expect to only be able to hit one beast, allowing the wave behind the bait to advance a good distance before they threw the next move out.

It was kind of sad how they were outsmarted by beasts, it said a lot about them.

I wanted to try out the sword I got in the secret realm. Just like the stone, it completely changed after being baptized by NE.

Suddenly summoning a sword to fly behind me didn't attract any attention, even if the sword looked a bit strange. I started to test the sword in action, at first it was just one beast that fell, then two, then three.

After the sword had flown through the necks of at least two dozen beasts, it suddenly flew up under my control and split into two, then four, eight, and so on. By the time I had 128 swords floating above me, some started to raise their eyebrows but it was still in the category of a powerful technique.

Instead of slashing at everything that moved, I started spinning the swords until they were just silver discs. The following scene was akin to a shredder moving along the enemy lines. Even the usually arrogant cultivators couldn't help but grimace a bit as blood, bones, and intestines flew through the air like confetti.

I on the other hand was enjoying the smell of fresh blood and fear. My lawnmowers were doing their job on their own, I could just sit back and enjoy. Sadly I didn't bring a couch with me and I didn't like to stand on flying swords, so I just infused some NE into the nearest cloud and sat on it. These things are fucking amazing.

After a few minutes, every cultivator decided to stay away from the area where my swords were playing catch with the beasts as they didn't want to get gore on their sparkling robes or get attacked by these crazy swords. My swords didn't see the difference between beast and human but that was mostly my fault because I often also don't.

Since everyone was so kind as to clear out the stage for me, it was time to show off a bit. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief as the swords stopped spinning and started flying back to me, only for them to suck the sigh back in as they saw what happened next.

As the swords stopped just below the clouds, they once again started to multiply. 256, 512, 1024.

Even the elder and the hidden demonic cultivators were relieved when they suddenly stopped at 1.048.576 only for them to regret it as they watched the swords grow in size.

The entire battlefield grew silent as the entire field was overshadowed by over a million swords, each about 2 km long and with a terrifying aura. All sides had prepared for the two possible outcomes, winning or losing, but no one would think in their wildest dream that it would go this way.

The swords didn't wait for them to get a reality check and simply descended on the fearful army of beasts. The last sounds on the battlefield were the sound of a million giant swords cut through armor, skin, flesh, bones, and dirt.

As the swords slowly started to dissipate, the remaining survivors started to grow loud in fear, awe, and confusion.

"Who is that?! How come I never heard of such a peerless sword cultivator?"

"His Sword Intent and Sword Heart are so strong, I can feel myself breaking through"

"He looks like a fallen Sword Immortal"

"Senior, do you need someone to warm your bed?"

"How dare he take my spotlight?! I'm the sixth prince of the Dujing Dynasty, does he not know what this means? I will write my father a letter to teach this guy a lesson"

The Integration realm elder approached me with a proud smile on his face like he taught me these moves.

"Junior, you did well. How about we talk in priv-" Before he could finish speaking, I summoned another sword and slashed at the empty space behind me.

He looked at the spot I slashed at in confusion, only to grow ghostly pale as space parted and a Void Return demonic cultivator emerged from it. Encountering someone stronger on what was supposed to be an easy mission was already bad but seeing him be cut in two by someone you were planning to force to hand over whatever treasure or technique this was, was terrifying.

The whole battlefield fell silent again but this time it felt like it was even quieter. Everyone just watched as the demonic cultivator's two halves fell to the ground.

I on the other hand just realized I made a mistake.

My previous show was already outrageous but could still be explained but I just detected someone seven major realms above me hiding in the void and cut him in two without him being even able to resist.

The demonic cultivator wanted to kill me before I grew up, so he decided to sneak attack me. Since I had my Divine Sense on, I didn't even notice he was hiding and just thought some idiot was mental, a normal occurrence here.

My sword cut through anything, armor, skin, flesh, bones, spirit, soul, and space were just the beginning. In fact, it wasn't even a sword, just like anything else about me, it didn't have a form and I could decide on it freely.

This was going to be troublesome, I would no doubt fall in the eyes of the Sect Master.

Let's deal with this later, now I'm going to destroy a few demonic sects, maybe the sect master will give me some extra benefits when I return and we meet.
