The throne of bones in front of me looked very much like my old one before I created the Tower of Ur'gazoth, minus the angry god on it of course.
"Speak, why have you come here?" the displeased king of the dead asked me.
"You don't recognize me? I'm deeply hurt, I thought I left a lasting impression at the last winter solace. I just wanted to visit you" I answered with a hurt expression, visibly confusing him.
"Who are you? I don't recall meeting you" to which I just chuckled.
"Oh, sorry, maybe this will jog your memory" and I changed from my human form to a more majestic human form but with the clear aura of a god.
This clearly startled him, gods weren't supposed to be able to enter each other's territory, especially without the other noticing.
"I remember you, my wife advised me to stay clear of you as she could feel something far more sinister about you. Tell me, shall I take your act of invasion as a declaration of war?" His voice grew more threatening by the end.
"Your wife has excellent intuition but no, I only came to see the Underworld for myself and maybe introduce my son to you, he could use the excuse of a business trip to get a few days away from his cranky wife"
"I'm not interested in meeting your son. How did you get in?"
"Believe me, you will want to meet him, any ruler of the afterlife will eventually have to face him and it would be better to do it before he gains too much influence and no longer sees value in you. As for how I got in, I'm the god of lies and broken oaths, the Ancient Laws don't affect me"
What I was saying was true, Leo had already absorbed several afterlives, be it heaven or hell, into his Underworld and turned their ruler into his vassals. Managing the afterlife was way too much work to do alone, so he decided to create the vassal system.
No matter if the ruler was too greedy to give up his seat of power or if he was just overworked like Hades here, they would get their solution by fusing their territory with Leo's. They would still get to rule and receive help in managing everything. Of course, that was only as long as he didn't have enough power to do everything alone, by then he wouldn't recruit gods anymore and they would just become his floor mats if they stood in his way of taking over their afterlife.
"You say you aren't affected by the Ancient Laws?" he ignored what he thought was just a threat and focused on the later part "That means you are unaffected by the rules that gods can not steal someone's symbol of power"
He completely ignored my threat since he didn't believe anyone would dare to threaten one of the Big Three, he was way more interested in me being the god of lies and broken Oaths that allowed me to ignore the Ancient Laws.
Obviously, that was a lie, an ironic one at that since I claimed to be the god of lies, I just wasn't affected by their laws in the first place and just pushed the blame on something that would make sense to them.
I could tell why he was so fascinated by that fact, he either believed I stole the symbols of power or he wanted me to steal his back, either way, he was thinking of pressuring me into doing something for him. Who would expect a low-level god to defy one of the big three head-on?
*Sight*
"Before this gets out of hand and ends badly, let me call my son" I wasn't interested in being part of some scheme, instead I just took out a phone and called Leo. Hades looked confused but just let me make my call.
He had no idea of the miracle of the cross-reality communication in front of him, he was just too ignorant about everything, he didn't even use his powers to amass the knowledge of the dead who entered his realm, or at least those who chose to reincarnate and had their memories wiped. He didn't have something like I did back when I was still too weak to create a better way of gathering information and was still gathering the knowledge of the deceased.
He sucked at managing the underworld, hopefully, this would change once it changed leadership.
While I was calling my lawyer- ahem, I mean son, a beautiful figure appeared behind Hades' throne and whispered in his ear.
"Don't trust a single word he says, just get him out of here, nothing good will happen the longer he stays here. I don't know what it is but something tells me he is beyond anything we understand, all I know is that he is really bad news"
