Ever since I made my plan to disguise myself as one of Rimuru´s subordinates, I kept a very close eye on all goblin settlements. In my plan, I would transform myself into a goblin and join a random settlement the moment I notice Vedora´s disappearance.
I was only able to use this plan because I was neither a human who couldn't get named, nor did I already have a name. My main body might have a true name but I didn't, technically I have never been named.
Rimuru was the only being in this world that gave every one of his subordinates names, that was only possible because he used to live in a human world where everyone had names and because he had enough Magicules to give so many names.
Two hours ago Veldora disappeared and it was time to act.
I appeared in a small settlement of tents, transformed into a random goblin, and changed their memories, making me a part of their community.
I made sure to not choose the beginner village with Rigurd because although I was confident that his Great Sage couldn't detect anything, it was better to be safe than sorry, especially since I knew that he was going to start paying less attention to naming once the other goblin villages want to join him after his return from Dwargon.
He even stopped caring to the point where he didn't think about names anymore and just gave them numbers.
I spent the next months living in this village, it wasn't even that bad except for the constant Direwolf attacks and it being a bit too primitive, even for my taste. From what I remember, Rimuru spent a whole month in the cave after being named and who knows how long building his village, I was a bit annoyed at how long I had to wait but it had waited for 2000 years, I can wait a bit longer.
Finally, news about a strong being establishing a goblin village somewhere in the forest spread and the village elder quickly decided to join them and seek shelter.
During our search for this mystical place we encountered more goblin villages that were searching for it, all of them heard that the people there were named but they didn't expect the same treatment and only wanted the safety of being under a powerful being.
After almost a week of searching, they finally found the village from the fairytales. Rimuru was still in Dwargon, enjoying the company of elves no doubt, and we had to wait for his return for him to make a decision.
He returned a few days later and immediately took us in without questions, even telling us to line up to get names. What a softy, though it is very beneficial to me in this situation so I won't say anything.
Not even a fifth into naming all the new goblins, he gave up and just added numbers to them. I was standing in the latter half, so just before he fell unconscious from giving so many names.
I was named Goblibo-7T96
It was an infuriating name but the other goblins didn't care and were just happy with getting a name, thankfully I don't have to put up with this name for long either.
While the slime was taking his nap, all named goblins evolved into hobgoblins. I obviously couldn't stand out and remain a goblin so I also changed my appearance accordingly and released more aura to prove my strength.
After the future Ruler of Monster awoke, we started building more and better houses, though I knew that they weren't going to last for long.
A few weeks later, our peaceful daily life was interrupted by a loud explosion. Rimuru immediately set out to scout.
I knew that this was the adventurer party, consisting of Rimurur´s future body frame, Eren, a royal from the Sorcerer´s Dynasty, and her bodyguards. Since I knew that the fight with Ifrit was going to destroy a good part of the village, I decided to retreat as far from them as possible without attracting suspicion.
Not even a few hours later the village was completely in flames. It pained me a bit to see our work of weeks get destroyed in minutes but I just shook my head, reminding myself that I was never even part of it and that I was here for a purpose.
I just sat beneath a tree and watched the fight, the burning village, and the goblins frantically trying to extinguish the flames.
