The churches army was completely annihilated, except a handful that was captured or managed to flee, but the demons also lost nearly 20 percent during the battle. After the battle the Demon Lord understood that he would need more manpower to fulfill his purpose and he started summoning new demons until we were 50 percent more than before the battle.
There were even a few named casualties but they soon reappeared in this world. It seemed like named demon had their soul bound to the demon realm and upon their death they would return there to rebuild their bodies again, this greatly reduced their chances of meeting actual death and made invading world a lot less dangerous.
One year passed after the battle and it seemed like things were starting to get a bit more serious now.
Some spies have reported that the church had received a revelation from their god, telling them to take the invasion more serious and prepare the paladins and pope to get fight personally and that they were now permitted to use holy artifacts. There was also talk about the god of light having chosen a hero than was destined to slay the Demon lord but he has yet been found.
Sound like just another protagonist to me, I wonder what cliché type he will be.
I had finished studying in this world that caught my interest and since I couldn´t find Dragons anywhere, I started to once again gather plants and other stuff, much to the fairies delight.
I was getting closer and closer to getting my true name with only 14% missing. It was honestly vexing knowing that only so little was missing for me to receive something that would change my being at its core, especially if I could get it millions of times over if I was allowed to use my own energy.
Two months of agonizing waiting went by, months I spent by looking for a way to distract myself, namely searching for the protagonist.
There were some criteria that narrowed my search down like a conspicuous name like Ruin, Light or any type of color or the fact that he always becomes an adventurer and is often a commoner with a childhood friend of noble background.
Lo and behold, I found him.
He was a talentless commoner from a village near the boarder where demons were rampant and was named Ruin. He had a deep hate for demons because they killed his parent and strives to become stronger to meet his childhood friend again who was the daughter of a baron and was later taken in by the church for training after they discovered her talent for the divine.
During an invasion he summoned a sword from the sky that allowed him to grow stronger by killing and killed all the demons. The sword was your usual 'killing for growth' type and the more he killed, the stronger it got and with each kill he would also get stronger due to it sharing some of the absorbed mana to either strengthen his body or build a mana circle.
By the time I found him, he already was an intermediate knight and a 4-circle mage, which was enough to fight with the above average unnamed demon, like the current me for example.
I saw some potential in this clearly god given sword and might be able to use it to craft my own sword. I wanted a sword even if I didn´t really need it and of course it needed to be the best of the best, so even though I have no use for its feature that gave its wielder power, I was interested in its ability to improve itself by killing.
I have always gathered, and still am, materials and weapons that I could use but I was still missing a few crucial things. It being soul bound was an absolutely must because I wanted it not only to take on my traits, mostly Nothingness and Absorption, but also because I wanted it to be unusable to anyone else. I was hoping that I might find the necessary methods for that when I get named and if that didn´t work I would need to find myself the Bleach reality and get an Asauchi. But even if I get an Asauchi I would need to fix a few things because there were a few things that just didn´t make sense to me.
I understand that its part of the story but why do Zanpakutos, who are the reflection of their wielders power, soul and personality, have a different name than their wielder and why don´t they just give their names when asked. They are literally the same being and the fact that they are separated in the first place is strange in itself. It might just be a way for the writer to give the characters one powerup after another without making it too easy or it could be a deliberate fail safe from Oetsu.
Anyway, back to the protagonist. Although I wanted his sword I wasn´t going to take it just yet, that would be too boring and easy. From what I could tell my remaining 3% were going to fill in the next two weeks and then I would be free from my self-imposed shackles and be free to do what I wanted without risk.

A/N- Next chapter will be the True Name reveal. The first name I decided on wasn´t any of the suggestions since they were either already taken by someone or sounded just too cliché, like seriously, Nihil… or Void…? I thought I made it clear that I didn´t want anything to do with clichés and wanted a demonic or outer god name. Although I didn´t pick any of the suggestions, I did get good ideas from them, so thank you.
