Chapter 4 - The Hunger

Suddenly, the egg's surface began to crack, creating intricate lines that spread outwards like a spider's web.

Aeron watched in awe and trepidation as the cracks grew wider, revealing a minuscule dark energy emanating from within. The energy seemed to pulsate with a life of its own as if it was alive and breathing.

To his surprise, a clawed hand emerged from the egg, accompanied by a weak growl that sent shivers down his spine. The hand was small, covered in a thin layer of slime, and its razor-sharp claws glinted in the light.

As he stood there, staring at the egg in front of him, a feeling of fear began to take hold. Startled, Aeron stepped back, fear gripping him for a moment.

The creature inside the egg was unknown to him, and he had no idea what it could be capable of. However, as he continued to look, he felt a strange sense of determination growing inside him.

He knew that there were risks involved, but he couldn't ignore the overwhelming 'urge' to help the creature inside the egg.

With his hands shaking slightly, he approached the egg once more, examining it carefully before beginning to remove the shell piece by piece.

He worked slowly and methodically, making sure not to damage the creature inside as he worked.

As Aeron watched the eggshell crack and fall away, he sensed that something unusual was about to happen. As the shell finally broke open, he caught a glimpse of a creature inside.

Although the remnants of the egg still obscured its form, Aeron could see enough to know that the being inside was similar to him in many ways, yet very different in others.

The most striking difference was the pair of wings that sprouted from the creature's back. These wings resembled the legendary gargoyle wings of myth, and Aeron couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy at the sight.

After all, who wouldn't want to soar freely through the skies, unencumbered by the bounds of the earth? Of course, some individuals might be scared of heights and prefer to keep their feet firmly planted on the ground, but for Aeron, the idea of flight was both exhilarating and alluring.

Aeron had always dreamt of flying and seeing the creature's wings only reminded him of his limitations. He yearned to soar through the skies like a bird, free from the confines of the earth.

Just as he said, "Wait a minute," he looked at the creature's crotch and realized that it was male. He was a little disappointed as he had hoped to see a female creature.

Upon further observation, Aeron noticed that the creature's black eggs were larger than the other eggs in various colors, which indicated that this one was bigger than Aeron.

As the creature began to emerge from its shell, it surveyed its surroundings, eventually stopping its gaze on Aeron.

Their relationship seemed to be similar to that of a farm animal and its eater. Aeron was driven by a desire to kill and eat the creature. However, he began to realize that his "urge" was caused by hunger.

"Don't tell me I must eat this creature to survive," he said. "However, we have to try killing each other first, and the winner will eat the loser," he thought to himself.

They began snarling at each other, but it was more like they were trying to communicate with one another. The first thing the creature said was "Griggrgrg, grggrgjahgar...", which meant "I don't know who you are, but I'm hungry, and you have to become my food now. You cannot defeat me, therefore accept your fate."

"Well that's a bit out of the blue," Aeron muttered to himself, surprised by the sudden turn of events.

"Hmm, I'm sorry, but I can't just stand here and let you do whatever you want to me," Aeron replied. "It's not just you who feels hungry, so I must kill you too." However, Aeron realized that talking about killing came very naturally to him, and he trembled with the realization of this change.

The creature went crazy, shouting, "Then die, you fool, arghhhhh," when someone dared to question his authority.

This monster believed that since he was created for greatness, power, and authority, it was only natural for others to submit to him, even if it meant becoming his food when he asked. Perhaps due to his recent birth, he acted more like a baby and threw tantrums, but in the manner of a monster.

As the creature's eyes turned red, its wings began to move to take flight. Aeron immediately recognized the creature's intent. "He must want to use his air superiority," Aeron thought, feeling a surge of fear at the prospect of facing an opponent in the air. "Damn, if you want to fight, please be fair. I can't fly," Aeron called out, his voice tinged with apprehension as he realized the disadvantage he faced against an airborne adversary.

The creature responded with mocking laughter.

"Hahahahahahahaaaha, now you know the difference between us," it taunted, relishing its advantage. Aeron understood the truth in its words; the creature possessed abilities beyond his own.

Just as the creature was about to launch an attack using its air superiority, something unexpected happened. One of its wings malfunctioned, causing it to plummet from a height of almost 30 meters. The fall was brutal, as the creature crashed onto a large stone before tumbling to the earth below.

Aeron's fear turned to determination as he saw the creature's vulnerability. "This is my chance," he muttered, realizing that he had to act quickly. He knew he couldn't confront the creature on equal terms due to their differing sizes and abilities.

Without hesitation, Aeron ran towards the fallen creature. Despite not understanding why the creature's wing had failed, he knew he had to seize the opportunity fate had presented him. As he closed the distance between them, a plan began to form in his mind. He might not be as strong or as agile as the creature, but he was determined to find a way to defeat it.
