Chapter 8 - A night of red snow

A night of red snow

It has been officially a week since I arrived in the kingdom of ice, Aisurando. With still three weeks until the grand tournament, I have gathered much intel about this civilization here and the history of this empire.

Aisurando was originally the creation of a small tribe of ice believers before the great white mist. They lived in the ice regions and dedicated their life, body, heart, and soul towards the "gods of the ice". They were not well known and certainly not powerful at the time. They were more on the unwealthy side of society. However, upon the tragedy, these turn of events, a girl within the ice tribe had awakened the godly power of the one element we call ice.

Her name was Yukina, and she was a single child without any guardians, similar to myself. Upon revealing her unbeatable and blessed power of ice, she was adopted by the main branch family of the Ice Tribe, gaining the royal status of power. These were all assumptions of my own as it is still a well-known fact she is not a legitimate family member everywhere.

What great humour, the reason why the main branch family are royalty is none other than her doing. She gained great power and chose peace over war. She protected the children, The elderly and as many innocent bystanders or victims in this world. She did this and formed the great ice walls to block all outside threats from entering. At first, I was astonished. This little being of particles managed to craft this endless perimeter of unbelievably thick, unbreakable walls.

She was a god. To the people, she was a god. A ruler which they wanted to serve under and with that unyielding will, the ice empire was formed under the main branch family as the centre of royalty. In a year, with the use of some blessed peoples abilities within the population, the ice empire formed buildings, streets, lawns, schools, shops, farms, houses and divided into cities. Humanity had managed to build nearly a full country, a full civilisation in under a year! The surprising aspect wasn't there at all, though...I was used to it already. This world is not a work of reality.

I also learnt the geological placing, not of this country only, but the whole continent. It was as followed:

Where I am located right now and have from the time at the farm has been the Western region where the ice empire lies, it roughly covered 30% of the continent, give or take.

Opposite, towards the Eastern coast, Is the reformation region of the former government and the very place the biggest government power laid, the governed Imperial army. It housed the biggest population of land and people in the entire region. It covered 40% of the continents land. They were in a newly made peace treaty with the ice empire and made trades on a regular basis.

The north, the smallest at 10% coverage, happened to be a free land with no upper power. However, in recent times power has started to emerge, and the name given was the "Northern invaders" due to their unknown identity but their will to take over. The north was also the founding area and base of the great slave company, who are always travelling to lands and assisting the financial state of society through the use of slaves. The services of the slaves were rejected and banned in the ice empire. However, accepted in ...

The former government region and...

The Southern region, my former home, my former life.Sakura, Aoi, mother and... Reo. where the fastest growing army has taken over, a cruel nation that was not further described in any of these books or information guides.Home to the dark army, who are currently in a war against the unknown northern invaders to take over the north. With the smallest population out of any of the countries, it was the mysterious and most unknown environment covering at 20% of the land and ruled by...by...Re...an individual described as the Dark god.

I chose not to accept reality at all. It was all a laugh at how things end up in just a year. But I was fine since I felt the distraction in my upcoming present situation, the tournament.

The city in the country of Aisurando I was in was the city of Ritorusu. It was incredibly different to living on the farm. It was way too advanced in maintaining a similar image towards the way of life before the time-reversal. How many years has this world really been reversed in time?

Participants of the great Ice tournament had all been dispersed into different cities depending on social status. As much wealthier, important people came to take part or accompany and sponsor someone who would do so. They did not even require the assistance of the nation towards lodging and supplies, unlike myself, who was desperate for such.

Aina's whereabouts were unknown, but I had no time to ponder in that direction. I wondered still the same thing...even if this is to pick a suitable heir to the ruling of the ice empire, was it really ideal for this to be the method. What if someone with dark intentions attains it? I never got the use of traditions in my life. It seemed so illogical and unrequired. Could there be a deeper meaning to the ice tournament?

My doubts were present, but for now ill take in the everlasting limited time of peace in my provided inn room. I wanted to at least feel relaxed and prepared for the day my death would come in these walls as these very days were all the least ideal situations I could have been in.

I fell asleep for the 8th day in my inn room with the same near usual death-like state of sleep I usually portray...

A sudden red puddle appeared in my dream, it was blood, and it increased, it filled the whole world of my dreams, I was suffocating, I was suffering. I woke up...

I was stabbed. Pain..all there was...was pain. Not this again, please no. I was filled with thoughts in my head of that very day. I was stabbed like him...Like grandpa. I was not ready to accept death. For the second time in my life, my will overcame me, and that instantaneous turn of events, a similar act of my regenerating arm occurred tissue, blood, cells and the atoms, which made them reversed back into their organic state within my body like the stabbing never happened.

The one who committed this crime was long gone. No one noticed as they escaped through my room window.

A sudden knock on the door...

It was the inn lady, stating one phrase...

"You're not dead?" ...

she had come to clean my corpse...

But instead was left in the greatest shock...

Was I in a state of fear? I could not say, but without a doubt, I was confused; I was in a petrified state for the only reason of not knowing what was going on until she spoke...

"I guess another one has made it into the true tournament." were her words. She only did one thing, and that was to hand me a letter from the capital written to "all surviving participants."

Dear surviving participants

As you have probably noticed, we at the royal capital issued a request to our countries new-found military and that simply to dispose of every member participating in the great tournament.

With the help of our townspeople, we decided to roll this up in time as a way to reduce numbers in this event while training our military in doing so. Those who signed up for the event and the opportunity to become an heir to our empire, as well as the partner to our worshipped princess Yukina accepted death as soon as they walked in. We aren't looking for the weak. We are not a nation to be disrespected by those who think our traditions are only for play.

Only the strong will survive. The ones who remain are now officially entitled to participate in the real tournament of ice within the capital. To the ones who died, we apologise, but in this world, in this country, you accepted your fate.

Yours sincerely, the royal council of Kurisutaruasu.

It disgusted me.

For the first time in my life, I felt disgusted.

I wish I had died...But the pain was something I could not handle.

The same thing occurred once more. My body regenerated.

I was hereby an official participant in the main tournament. Why me? How long must I suffer? Peace was truly nowhere to be found within this world.

I could not sleep that night...

The very next day, a carriage arrived to take me away, to the capital, to... Kurisutaruasu.Where I would fight in the grand tournament. The nation I thought was hope was no longer. Aina? is she safe? No, it was a mistake, the travel to this nation...was a mistake.

Number alive remaining: 12/100.

-do you believe?-
