We crept down the stairs to the first floor. The sounds of our footsteps were blocked by a spell I had cast. Out of the four guards, one would be awake and patrolling the hallways.
"This is incredible!" Fazio whispered.
I chuckled and said, "You don't have to whisper. Sound is completely blocked."
Fazio cocked his head as we snuck through the house, asking, "Selahe said that it was impossible to completely block sound with magic."
I nodded and said, "This spell is special."
This was one of the first times I was able to surpass regular mages with my advanced knowledge. Well, I say advanced, but that's not true.
The common wisdom of this world was that if you completely blocked sound you'd suffocate. They didn't understand that sound was vibrations in the air. Also, normally, sound suppression doesn't allow you to talk to anyone else.
