A few weeks before Kal's departure, Sin returned home with wounds all over his body. She didn't understand, so she asked him what had happened, and the boy said:
"It's nothing mom, I just fell."
Kal found that situation strange, and the next day he followed Sin to the primary school. Before he could enter the school, Sin was pulled into an abandoned barn where he began being attacked by a hooded man. Kal interferes before it gets worse, then Peon Umbridge appears, the same young man that Kal had met at the entrance to Elhim on the day of the tests. Kal with a serious look says:
"Why are you doing this to my brother?"
"You took my spot at the Imperial Academy!" - says the boy with hatred in his gaze
"And since I can't touch an Imperial student, I'll touch someone close to him." - he continues.
Immediately after Peon finishes speaking, the hooded man who revealed himself to be Oka, once again furiously charges at Sin. However, before he could reach his brother, Kal intercepts him and strongly strikes him in the back of the neck with a stone, knocking him senseless. Kal walks toward Peon, who gets scared and backs away, and with an arrogant air says:
"You know that if you touch me, your family will be persecuted in the village of Suri."
Kal, holding back his rage, immediately interrupts his advance toward Peon, remembering what the secretary had said that day at school. Kal decides not to attack Peon so his family wouldn't suffer persecution, since he wouldn't be there for much longer. Then Kal picks up his brother, cleans him up and quickly takes him away from that place. Kal takes Sin to some ruins of an ancient castle and says to his brother:
"Soon you will be the protector of our family, and until I can return, I need you to protect them, understand?"
Sin, with teary eyes, responds:
"But I'm not like dad or you!"
Kal, smiling, asks:
"Do you remember when I used to go hunting with our father, while you and Inala stayed home with mom?"
"Not much, I was very small." - Sin recalls
"One time he told me he had a dream where you, me and Inala had become strong, important people and that he was very happy with what we became from far away." - says Kal looking at the ruins.
"And do you remember what mom always used to say about our dad?" - Kal asks again, this time looking at Sin
"I remember" - Sin retorts.
"Then let's say it again together" - Kal requests.
And raising their voices in the midst of the echoes of those ruins, the two boys shout:
"DAD NEVER LIES TO THE FAMILY"
So putting his hand on his brother's shoulder, Kal says:
"I believe in you, just like dad believed, just like mom believes."
Moved and with tears in his eyes, little Sin shouts again:
"I believe!!!!"
That day the boys went home and it seemed a new motivation was taking over young Sin, and he started studying more and more about all subjects, learning more details about everything peasants were allowed to learn. He began training magic and strengthening his physical and spiritual being, all to be like Dad and now his brother.
One day before departing, Ella asks Kal to fetch water for the night, while she prepares a surprise party for him. While Kal was retrieving the water, a shadow suddenly appears before him, startling him.
"By Selerian" - says Kal giving a big jump back.
It was Inala, his sister.
"Hey little ant, you can't scare people like that" - says Kal with an accelerated heart.
"And I wanted to show you how good I am at hiding" - says Inala seeming a little proud.
"I'm getting really good at this, ok!" - the girl continues with a small smile on her face.
"I'm glad to see you're not sad anymore" - says Kal.
"You know brother..." - interrupts Inala.
"People come and go throughout our lives, dad left, you'll be leaving soon..."
"We have to learn to deal with these things." - finishes the girl.
Then pulling Kal by the arm, she sits near the water well and continues:
"I was angry with you."
"I was very angry, our family should stay united."
"But mom told me to smile, she said we should make the most of the time we spend with the people we love."
"That's why I'm not going to be angry or sad anymore, I'm going to smile, play, help you fetch water,"
"just like we used to - me, you, brother Sin and mom - while you're here."
Impressed with Inala's maturity, Kal stretches out amid the fields, grabs one of the flowers from that garden and places it in Inala's ear, saying:
"You're right, let's make the most of the time we have together, after all, we're family."
Then walking back home, they encounter Peon Umbridge again, this time with some more suspicious men.
"I can't touch you, Imperial Academy boy, but these outlaws can."
Immediately the men charged at Kal, who just pushes Inala away, saying:
"Go home, quick."
Inala leaves quickly while Kal prepares to defend against the men's attack. They mercilessly attack Kal, knocking him to the ground and ferociously kicking him. And Kal could only protect his head from the blows. Kal manages to get up after rolling left and getting out between the men surrounding him. As he got up, he landed a kick on one of the men, knocking him down, at the same time grabbing a stone from the ground and hitting another with it, but takes another strong blow from the third man and falls to the ground again as the other two got up. One of the men draws a dagger and before he can hit Kal, Ella arrives and shouts:
"Don't touch my son!"
Startled, the man turns and slashes Ella's neck, making her bleed. Seeing Ella bleeding on the ground, Peon and the men flee in fear, leaving Kal with broken ribs as he watches Ella bleed to death. He gets up and goes to his mother, and she, holding her wound tightly, looks at him with tears in her eyes, and opens her mouth as if trying to say something, until her eyes slowly close. Kal then holds his mother tightly, and with all the strength of his lungs gives an deafening scream.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
That sight left Kal desperate, and he continued screaming until he lost his voice. In the village of Suri, people tried their best not to get involved in such matters, even more so when the Umbridge family was involved, after all they were the richest and most influential in the entire village and lived like lords of those lands. Kal found himself alone with his mother's body, in fact he had a very strong bond with her, being the one closest to Ella among her children.
Suddenly Kal completely loses his voice, then as if closing his eyes, he feels his consciousness disappearing and then he passes out.
Kal wakes up in a strange place. He seemed to be atop a high mountain. The night sky sparkled like a rainbow and the bright stars adorned the sky of dawn and then looking ahead, Kal sees a man at the peak of that mountain, he had silvery hair like him and wore warrior armor, and with his back seemed to be admiring that vast sky. Kal approaches the man and notes that from the height of that mountain you could see a great illuminated city like daylight, with lights that lit up like dawn, then the man who admired the stars turned around, and looking at the man, Kal noticed he was very similar to him but older, and without being startled the man smiled and said:
"I was waiting for you."
Kal felt that his voice was soft like clouds and pleasant like the sound of waves on rocky coasts and at that moment Kal asks:
"Am I dead?"
"Would you like to be?" - asks the man.
"I would like to be with my family!" - replies Kal saddening his face.
"I understand, I also miss mine" - responds the man.
"But you know, sometimes we have to live with distance"
"And as your mother said to your sister: '...that we should make the most of the time we spend with the people we love', don't you think the same?" - completes the man.
"I... I understand" - says Kal with tears in his eyes.
"But it doesn't have to be the end, if you don't want it to be" - says the man.
"What do you mean?" - inquires Kal, not understanding anything.
"Sometimes you just need to try doing what you've never done before" - says the man.
"What's your name?" - asks Kal.
"I've had various names, but you can call me Domeh" - responds the man, touching Kal's hand.
"My name is Kal" - says the boy lowering his head.
"You seem sad, Kal, has something happened?" - asks the man.
"I just saw my mother die" - responds Kal.
"And was your mother a good person?" - asks Domeh.
"Very" - Kal responds quickly.
"And it's really bad when good people die, isn't it?" - asks Domeh.
"And it's even worse when it's someone you love!" - completes Domeh.
Kal remained silent until tears started running down his face.
"I just wanted to be useful to her and my brothers." - says Kal, soaked in tears.
"I wanted to be someone important, I wanted to go to the Imperial Academy, and bring the best things in the world to them" - Kal continues.
"Wanted? The past is a time that doesn't accept changes" - recalls Domeh.
"But I'm already dead, aren't I? My father used to say that when we die, we meet the gods and they can come in many ways" - says Kal.
"Which god are you?" - asks Kal.
"I'm not a god, I'm just Domeh" - responds Domeh, smiling.
"Anyway, we can't change the past, right?" - retorts Kal.
"Not today, but we can change the present and perhaps our future!" - responds Domeh with serenity.
"And how can we do that?" - asks Kal.
"Tell me young man, what would you like to do?" - asks Domeh.
"Save my mom, and give her and my brothers a great life!" - responds the boy with a serious look.
"You know something, Kal, if you really believe it, maybe it can happen" - concludes Domeh.
At that moment, Domeh disappears and the lights of the stars began to get even brighter and stronger, blinding the young man's vision, who closes his eyes completely until he feels that everything had returned to what it was before and that with his eyes still closed, he was lying on a cold earth floor.
Kal's eyes that were closed are opened and the yellow glow that was once weak this time shone stronger, his face that before was desperate was now tranquil and peaceful, and a serene smile appeared on his lips. Then putting his right hand on his ribs, he felt he was critically injured and supporting his hand firmly again over them, he said:
"Be restored."
And Kal's ribs were restored, and then looking at his mother, he saw she was pale and cold and the great pool of blood around her had already cooled and darkened. Despite the scene, he remained calm and said:
"Every person who lives or has lived in this world has a purpose, you still have an important role to fulfill!"
And extending his right hand again, he touched his mother's neck and said:
"Be restored."
And surprisingly his mother's throat returns to how it was before, the skin that was once pale and cold regained color and warmth. Then while his mother was still unconscious, Kal ran off.
Peon and the 3 outlaws had hidden inside an abandoned barn, and there the 3 threatened him for more money, after all, now that they had killed someone, they wanted to leave that village as soon as possible. Peon, without money at the moment, just tried to keep talking for more time. And then the 3 outlaws approached Peon, but they all heard a noise at the barn gate. They all looked back, and saw only that the gate, which was previously closed, was now ajar, but there was no one there. Thinking the wind had moved the gate, they turned back to Peon. However, looking behind Peon, two eyes shone golden in the darkness of the barn, and a voice echoed from behind Peon.
"The false destiny imposed by thieves and cowards must return to the same."
At that moment Peon looks back but nothing was there, but when he turned his face back to the outlaws, he realized that all their throats were lacerated and there was no more life in the eyes of the 3. Then Peon fell sitting on the ground, scared, and looked up. There above was Kal, sitting in a window, looking at Peon with serenity. Peon panics and says:
"A ghost!"
But before he could finish saying, like the blink of an eye Kal appears right in front of him, places the tip of his left finger on his forehead and says:
"See the end of those who succumb to despair."
Then Peon widens his eyes, opens his mouth, but no sound came out of him, he just remained sitting with his eyes fixed on nothing and his mouth open until tears ran down his eyes, seeing Kal turning and leaving that place.
Kal returns to where his mother was, wakes her up and when she stands up, Kal looks at her and says:
"Let's make the most of the moments we have with family."
After speaking these words, Kal falls unconscious in Ella's arms, who still did not understand what had happened. Then Ella, carrying the unconscious Kal home, just looks at the sky and says:
"Thank you for saving us again."
Ella arrives home, with dirty clothes and carrying the unconscious Kal in her arms, enters and finds a desperate Sin who was pacing all over the house, and a desperate Inala who hadn't stopped crying for even a second since their mother left in search of Kal. They hug her and for a moment they all stayed together until they fell asleep from exhaustion.
