"I love you Mason." Earnest eyes filled with desperation and love stared right into Mason's eyes with a gaze that implied nothing exist for them except for Mason.
"You...are you crazy?!" Mason lashed out the moment he heard her.
"Yes! Yes I am crazy...a crazy women who has fallen for a man with no guts to accept me! a man who runs away everytime I try to confess my feelings to him..." Before the woman could complete her sentence she was cut off by Mason.
"You think saying it like that will make me accept you?! You say as if I've hurt you but it's clearly you who wanted to get hurt by coming after me who already had someone in his heart! I've already rejected your advances countless times and I plan do to the same. Get out of this house this instant!" Mason replied in an agitated manner.
"Why?! She's dead! Why can't you accept it now that your wife's no longer alive?" The woman cried unjustly.
Angered by her unrestrained words the man pinned her to the wall behind her with his elbow just below her neck.
"Ugh!" The woman moaned in pain.
"Did you hate her so much?! Before becoming my wife she was your best friend don't you remember? How could you say those words when she had died only a month back?! Is that something a friend would do?!"
"Friend? You call that vixen my friend?! It's better off that she's dead!" The woman shouted hysterically.
Slap
"You bitch!" Mason lost control of himself and slapped her. How could the woman's frail body resist Mason's heavy blow?
She fell sideways on the cold floor. Her cheeks reddened, her lips torned and her knees ached as she grimaced from the pain.
"Get lost before I kill you!" Mason roared.
"Kill me then!" She shouted back. " It's better to die than to live a life like this. A life where I can't even love a man other than you!"
Mason had enough of it. He grabbed the woman by her arms and dragged her towards the door. He finally pushed her out forcefully while shouting, "Go die then! A person like who can't even mourn her friend's death is better if dead!"
His hate filled gaze looked at her with disregard and slammed the door shut.
Huhkkh
Huhkkh
Sounds of crying echoed all around as the woman let all her emotions out. She weeped...weeped for hours until her tears ran dry.
Who said that one couldn't cry without tears?
She clearly did. The sadness which these tearless cries expressed was heart wrenching to anyone who heard it.
However it didn't affect Mason or so it seemed. From one of the open windows of the house he stared at the weeping figure which had almost lost all it's energy.
At half past midnight Mason came out of the house and looked at the curled up figure on the ground.
He picked her up from the ground and carried her weakened body inside. She was sound asleep and wasn't disturbed by the movements. It was clear from this how much she has exerted herself earlier.
Mason placed herself on the bed in the guest room and was about to leave.
"...Mason..."
He turned around only to notice that she was still asleep.
'Even in sleep she's thinking of me...' Mason shook his head and closed the door behind him.
He could never betray his wife. Now that she was gone he too had planned to go after her after settling all the leftover business here.
While making his way to his room via the sitting room Mason's gaze fell upon a hand bag that was lying on th floor.
'It must have fallen down when I hit her...' Mason thought as he made his way towards the bag.
The chain of the bag was open and a few things were poking out of the bag. Mason bent down to place everything back in the bag.
"Hmm? What is this?" Jin noticed a buddle of white cards placed together with a rubberband.
With a curious gaze he reached for them only to realize that they were not cards but a bunch of photographs.
"Isn't that Ema?" Mason muttered as the first picture was that of Ema, his wife.
Mason removed the rubberband the next moment and looked at the next picture. His hand paused all of a sudden and his breath become heavy.
With a heavy heart he kept that picture behind the bundle and looked at the next card...and the next...the next....
Mason's legs lost all strength as he fell down on the ground. The pictures which were earlier in his hand scattered all over the floor.
"...so it was only me...only me who loved her...that can't be haha.. right! How can that be?...these must be fake pictures that woman had prepared to dupe me...yes that must it..."
Unable to beleive what he had just scene Mason redirected all his anger at the woman who was sleeping inside the room.
"I can tell you the name of each man of you want..." Mason's attention went to his left the moment he heard this words.
The woman was no longer asleep and was now standing outside the guest room.
"You! This was all part of your plan right! You think I'll believe these non sensical pictures?!" Mason hollered.
"From the way you're reacting...you already do," the woman replied.
"Shut up before I pull of your tongue you wench!" Mason roared out in anger.
"You're not dumb Mason...these pictures helped you remove the blindfold you have placed over yourself all these years...now that you're looking back at your time with Ema you're clearly able to decipher that she never loved you...all those meet out with friends...all those trips she went to with her friends...you-"
"Shut up! I said shut up!" Mason grabbed a nearby table lap and slammed it on the ground.
The woman however was undeterred and continued, "A vixen like her could never be satisfied with a single man! She had always been like this! You hit me earlier because I called her a vixen but tell me Mason...if a woman like is not a vixen then who else is?!"
Mason was experiencing a variety of emotions at the moment. This revelation had made him all too confused and he didn't know what to do. He just stood their blankly after hearing the woman's words that were laced with truth.
"Oh no! Your arm is bleeding!" The woman noticed a gash on Mason's arm and rushed to get a first aid kit.
A few moments later she came back with the kit and pulled Mason to the sofa to take a seat.
Like a lost lamp Mason follows her instructions and sat down while she treated him.
Five minutes passed...
"Why..." Mason finally said something, "...why didn't you tell me about it earlier,"
He asked the woman who was almost done with treating his wounds.
"You think I didn't want to? Every part of me wanted to inform you but I couldn't...Emi was aware that if give a chance the I would readily tell everything to inform you about this therefore she used my weakness against me..." She paused to look at Mason.
"Your weakness?" Mason inquired.
"She said that if there ever comes a time that I try to spill the truth...she will poison you to death," The woman muttered.
Mason didn't reply but just stared at the woman in front of him who he has hated to the core all this while.
He sighed.
The woman didn't say anything and just took a seat on a nearby seat and waited like a statue. She understood how hurt Mason must be after this realizing this truth. No words of solace could make him feel better right now.
Finally after ten minutes Mason stood up from his seat.
"It's too late, go and rest," He told the woman.
She nodded and proceeded towards the guest room.
"And..." Mason's words stopped her in her tracks as she turned around to hear what he wanted to say.
"Thank you for everything, Bella," Mason said with gratefulness.
Hearing this a warm smile formed on Bella's face and she replied.
"This is the first time you've thanked me,"
"I see...good night then," Mason immediately bid her good night and went to his room. He had never felt embarrassed under her gaze but this time he clearly did.
'I can finally look forward to our future,' Bella thought a she made her way to the bed.
