On Thursday morning, Lin Qing woke up earlier than usual and she made her way to the kitchen.
Recently she started to familiarize herself to kitchen so she decided to brew herself a cup of ginger and honey tea and make a pancake and started to reflecting on the events that had led her to this point.
Her family's company, which had been in operation for almost sixty years, had recently been rocked by a series of corruption scandals that had left many high-level managers and executives in disgrace.
Lin Qing knew that there were many aspects of the company's operations and management that needed to be changed.
And some of the things needed to be modernized.
She believed that this would not only prevent future corruption issues but also help the company stay competitive in a rapidly changing business landscape.
So yesterday she made an appointment with her father to give him a presentation on this subject.
She didn't want to play around as a creative director, as a Lin , she also should help as much as she can, she thought.
After finishing her tea, Lin Qing headed to the company ahead of schedule to ensure that everything was in order for her presentation later that day. As she walked through the bustling corridors of the company, she observed the faces of the workers, some of whom seemed uneasy or unaware of the impending changes. Some of these people might see this type of proposal as a threat to their positions and interests. But Lin Qing only had best interest for their family.
Although these types of proposals should be presented to other executives and shareholders of the company but she preferred to keep a low profile.
Since noone knows that she is aware of anything, this would make her a good bait if anyone came after her.
In her presentation, Lin Qing planned to propose changes to the company's management structure, aiming to modernize its operations.
Despite the year being 2014, many crucial company documents were still paper-based, which was meant to keep them private but made it easy for people to embezzle and undermine the structure that had been in place for almost 60 years.
She knew that due to the recent turmoil, several high-level managers and executives had been fired, and some had even been taken down by the police. If these positions remained open or were taken over by more corrupt individuals, she didn't know how these problems would be fixed.
If her proposals were accepted, they would implement electronic signatures, use encryption and access controls, adopt financial software instead of manual recording, implement accounting software to prevent embezzlement, and utilize fraud detection software from another company. The presentation emphasized the importance of working with several companies instead of a single one. This approach would bring more transparency and also prevent internal secret agreements.
These times were the most critical moments for the company's future, and Lin Qing wanted to take a decisive step. Despite lacking expertise in technology, accounting, or finance, she decided to learn as much as she can since she has been reborn and she also had the assistance from system for this presentation.
"Good morning, Miss Lin," said the receptionist as Lin Qing approached the front desk of the 101th floor. "How may I assist you today?"
"Good morning," replied Lin Qing. "Did CEO Lin arrive in his office"
The receptionist nodded , "Yes Miss Lin, CEO Lin is currently having a meeting with CTO Lin."
Lin Qing thanked the receptionist and made her way up to the conference room that both her and her father agreed upon.
As she entered, she saw that everything was set up already. Even though she wasn't as professional as other workers, she felt good that her family was respecting her dearly. She took a deep breath and began to rehearse her presentation inside her mind.
After a while there was a knock at the door, and Lin Qing's father walked in.
Father Lin had a haggard look and there were black circles unders his eyes but when he saw Lin Qing he smiled at her "Good morning, Lin," he said . "So you have a proposal to me?"
When he asked he looked very proud.
Lin Qing smiled back at him. "Good morning, Dad," she replied. "Yes , I am read, if you are" she stood up and spoke with confidence.
Father Lin just gave her a " Umm" and then took a seat at the head of the table and looked at his daughter with a mixture of pride and concern. "What are you going to talk about?"
Lin Qing took a deep breath and began to explain her proposals for modernizing the company's operations. As she spoke, her father listened intently, occasionally nodding his head in agreement. But then he asked a question that caught Lin Qing off guard: "What if our accounts get hacked? Or important documents get leaked, do you have countermeasures for these?"
Lin Qing paused for a moment before answering. "CEO Lin I understand your concern," she said calmly. "In the event of a cyber attack or hacking attempt, we should have a contingency plan in place to mitigate the damage and prevent further harm." She went on to explain her plans for implementing multi-factor authentication, regular system backups, and strict access controls to ensure that only authorized personnel could access their financial data. She also discussed their crisis management plan in case any financial losses or data breaches occurred. Father Lin listened carefully as his daughter spoke, impressed by her knowledge and confidence in handling such situations. Afterwards, he nodded his head approvingly, " I didn't know that you were worried about the company so much, Qing Qing, do you want another position?"
Lin Qing was hesitant for a bit, " I have been enjoying my work in the company and I also think I can have more responsibility but I just started to work this week so it isn't appropriate to promote me so early, I wouldn't want if executives or other shareholders start to question our family."
Father Lin stated to his daughter, " Who dares to spread rumors about my daughter?
Qing Qing, you shouldn't let the opinions of those small-fries individuals hold you back. Just tell me if you have another position you desire , Dad will support you."
Lin Qing was very touched of her fathers unconditional love, "Thank you Dad, I will do better research about it then, in meantime I will dp a good job on my current position to not disappoint you"
"What disappointment? You've only been here for a bit more than a week, but you've already made an impression, don't hold back, Qing Qing, you're a Lin and Dad's company is your company."
Said father Lin , his tired eyes were full of love.
