Chapter 2 - 1

For God knows how many times Kim Minjae checked luggages. He counted the trolleys and made sure no one eyed their belongings. Security guards at the airport initially doubted him for his quirky behavior. However, they stopped watching him when they realized his counting was not going to stop anytime soon. His wife lost her patience and irritated by his behavior.

Kim Minjae family were at the airport six hours before their departure time to make sure they will not miss their flight. They started their journey at 3AM in the morning though the airport was just one hour drive away from their home.

Delhi traffic was no joke but there would still be no line of vehicles in the morning hours. Since the road was clear they reached airport in just fifteen minutes.

Geetha waited for their allocated time to check in their luggage patiently in the cold with her husband and son in the waiting area. As they had long hours to check in, they couldn't go into the airport before the security check call came in.

Kim Taehyung didn't bother with the chaos. Without any care he listened to the song on his head phone and was busy playing video games.

It was best to ignore than step in to your parent's argument.

Geetha constantly complained about their early arrival but Minjae didn't care to listen. He checked the status of the flight, but there was no information available. Of course, there won't be any since they have four solid hours to get their flight status.

"Tae, stop using your mobile and get something for us to eat", Minjae finally turned his attention to his son due to the growl in his stomach.

Since there was no reply from his son, he poked him and repeated what he had said a minute ago.

"Dad, I'm at an important level. Why don't you leave with mom and finish your breakfast?" Tae replied without removing his gaze from the screen.

"I don't want to miss flight status"

"Dad, are you serious? Even the pilot must be sleeping at his home now." Tae said irritatingly. "Here we are sitting for no reason. There is no way we would miss the flight so please can you move from here?"

Tae tried to explain that their mobile phone would get SMS from the airlines about gate information and flight details. This meant there was no possibility for them to miss their flight.

There was no need for him to explain all those things to his dad since he visit Korea every year and know how it all works more than Tae.

The old man snatched his son's phone from his hand before he could retaliate. He shoved money in Tae's hand and gestured for him to move.

"Mom, are you sure he works in the Embassy? I doubt so"

Geetha palmed her face and lowered her head on her lap. She already lost her sleep and now her appetite too.

Tae didn't want to shout at the airport though there was no one except security guards and scavengers.

To buy breakfast for their parents, he walked away.

He ordered three plates of mini tiffin, three cups of coffee and paid for them using his debit card. His mobile phone chimed a few seconds later, alerting him to the arrival of an email. He opened the notification while waiting for his parcel.

There was an email with his onboarding details from his new company. After inhaling heavily, he quickly scanned the mail.

It was a tough decision for him to move from the place where he had spent 28 years. If his father didn't get pressure from higher management to move to Seoul there was no need for them to travel at all.

He tried his best to convince his father to ignore the offer or at least allow him to stay in India. But his father touched on his weakness. His love for his mother. Since her health was not that great, she couldn't stay away from her son. So, he complied and resigned from his job since the company he worked for had no office in Korea.

He had exactly one week to join new company. While he could have delayed joining, he did not want to create a gap in his career by doing so.

It was not challenging for him to find himself a job in Seoul with his stellar resume. He got multiple offers from multinational companies but chose iTech Solutions since they were a fast growing company. They also had a lot of potential to become the number one company in Korea soon. Also he did his research well and ensured he would get a good opportunity to apply his skills.

The only problem he would face would be commuting. Forty five minutes by train from their new apartment. Since it was close to his father's office he convinced them to book this apartment. Anyway, he would use the subway until he bought his new bike.

After acknowledging the email, he walked towards his parents with a parcel in hand.

 **********************

At iTech Solutions, everyone was working hard as usual. With a warm smile on his face, a male started his presentation in one of the big conference rooms located on the fifth floor of the seven-story building.

"Good morning everyone. I'm Kim Seokjin, project lead and technical architect of this account. I know most of you know me already. I would like to say hello to all newcomers as well." With that quick introduction Jin started his presentation.

His white shirt was tightly tucked into his waist and the collar slightly revealed his beautifully shaped collarbones. Then and there he adjusted his black eyeglasses without realizing it was hot.

He finished his presentation in thirty minutes and asked the team members and project managers present in the meeting room if they had any questions.

There was pin drop silence in the room. The presentation was crystal clear and no one could have explained the upcoming project design better than he did.

Jeon Jungkook, one of the project managers of the Zeneca clothing brand account broke the silence and said, "Good work Jin. It was an excellent presentation. I'm sure the clients would be happy to finalize the project."

Jungkook never shy away from complimenting someone on the spot if he knew they did good job. If there was a mistake then that person has to pray to God for lessen the embarrassment.

Everyone agreed with Jungkook's comment and appreciated Jin except for one person who sat silently watching Jin's every move.

Jin was able to feel the attention of him and felt nervous inside whenever their eyes locked casually. Finally, that person broke the silence.

"Jin, you haven't mentioned the estimation of effort here", Min Yoongi asked the technical architect.

Jin wanted to roll his eyes but controlled himself because it was a business meeting. Jungkook smirked knowingly at Yoongi. He knew his best friend needed attention.

"Isn't it too early to discuss estimation? I'm sure as a manager you must have already been aware of it", Jin tried to be polite but it came out sarcastically.

Yoongi was satisfied when Jin was triggered and said, "Well, I think I know that's why they trusted me to handle this project along with Jungkook. But when we talk to the client, we need complete data."

Jin wanted to finish the conversation soon so he replied, "It will be ready by the time we speak to the client which is scheduled for next week. If there are no questions, we can conclude the meeting." He didn't give an opportunity to Yoongi to oppose.

Everyone dispersed from there and walked to their cabin.

Yoongi saw Jin's eagerness to end the meeting and couldn't help but joke, "You're so eager to end this meeting that you must have a date or something!"

"Sorry, what did you say?" Jin asked Yoongi but ignored by him. Yoongi stepped out of the room with Jungkook and left dumbfounded Jin behind.

"Bro, you sure know how to get someone's attention", Jungkook teased Yoongi.

Yoongi smiled triumphantly and said, "I know. But I don't do this to you all, remember?"

Jungkook nodded understandingly. Both walked to the glass cabin dedicated to project managers. Their cabin was located adjacently.

"Jungkook, did you check the profile I sent you yesterday? Our recently hired senior engineer.", Yoongi asked him.

"Not yet. I'm sure he would be an excellent resource since you interviewed him personally", Jungkook told him genuinely.

"His profile was amazing. He would be a great resource for our upcoming project as well. I will tag him under your name".

Both ended the conversation and began working in their respective cabin.

Jungkook opened his email and scanned Taehyung's profile. His profile was more than enough for their expectations. He was more interested in looking at him than his profile.

An incoming meeting call from his Teams app brought him back to his office. He was shocked when he realized he was three minutes late to the meeting. One of the participants pulled him to the meeting since he was not joining.

For the first time, he joined the meeting late and that too because he was too busy staring at someone's picture. Jungkook already hated Tae and felt he would be harmful for his mind. But subconsciously he opened the calendar to check how many more days left for Tae to join the company.
