Chapter 3 - A New Home

I awoke to find my suppositions correct, i was laying in the same cot as when I went to sleep that night still firmly in this new fantasy world. The sun was just starting to rise over the horizon filling the sun with brilliant hues of reds and oranges. I heard shuffling from outside the hut before suddenly the goblin who had spoken to the tribe the day before came in and presented me with some food and renewed the water within my bowl.

I sat up wiping my eyes to bring the world better into focus and to examine the food I had been presented. It appeared to be a porridge of some sort of grain with roughly chopped pieces of meat. the smell wasn't off-putting and even seemed somewhat pleasant in a simply sort of way.

No utensils were provided so I just brought the bowl up to month and began slurping the porridge down . The goblin looked on expectingly seemingly trying to read my expression for signs of a reaction. It was bland seemingly prepared without the use of any herbs or spices but reminded me of a millet porridge. The chunks of meat which I proceeded to grab with my gave off the flavor of a more gamey pork but not in a bad way. I was pleasantly surprised by normality of the food they ate or at least had given to me.

I gave a slightly exaggerated sign of satisfaction so as to hopefully allow goblin before me to understand. He did and after completing my meal he took the bowls and lead me to the center of the encampment. At its' center the camp had a massive fire with and great cauldron hanging above it. several of the goblins were working diligently cooking, serving and keeping the fire going. They sat in groups on felled logs fashioned into makeshift benches, it seemed that the whole tribe came and ate together reaffirming their bonds and enjoying the morning sun.

It was a wonderous scene one that gave the joy of familiarity. Despite a seeming tough existence they enjoy the simple pleasure of a good meal spent with friends and family. While eating the others took notice of my arrival while some still seemed somewhat weary the outgoing female form the day prior immediately hurried to my side. She spoke and nudged against me taking my arm while pressing herself close to my form. While the night before i wasn't able to make out the details of her form and figure she processed a very alluring physic. Her smell that of jasmine blossoms, her face soft delicate, and innocent. I could feel my face being to flush slightly while she continued to press against me.

From the corner of my eye I saw the movement of someone entering the area. It was the very elderly goblin and he had several others helping him to the most prominent bench near the great flame. As the others saw his approach the stopped and gave a slight bow while in unison speaking what i could only assume to be a respectfully greeting. Once he was seated life resumed as normal as if nothing else had even happened. The elder spotted me and waved for me to come to him, the girl on my arm responded by pulling me along to be before him.

When I reached him he looked me up and down as if to see me for the first time in decent lighting. He was then handed a bowl of the same millet like porridge and meat which he then pointed to and made a sound. He keep doing so until I eventually understood that he wanted me to repeat the noises he was making. Slowly he went through in this way until I could make the correct sound when he pointed to the porridge, meat and water. Then as if to say that is enough for now shooed me away.

After eating the tribe member dispersed each going their separate ways, each seemingly bond to a specific task. Some went out of the camp to hunt, fetch water, chop wood, and etc. While others stayed in the camp keeping guard, weeding, and a small group stayed to tend to the needs of the old man. Once the Sun reached its' highest point in the sky All those who had left the camp returned and started to prepare their lunch which consisted of a simple mix of leafy green vegetables wrapped in a thin near transparent sheet which was all eaten together reminding me of a vegetarian spring roll.

They left back out after having finished their lunch to continue where they had left off. Roughly an hour before sunset they all returned home gathering again in the center of camp. They began to prepare a rich stew using the same meat as was eaten in the morning along with some root vegetables. Just like in the morning they all sat together on the benches and once the meal was nearly ready to be eaten the elder returned. Again he was bowed to and greeting and I even joined in imitating their words and bow. Just as in the morning they ate made merry before turning in for the night.

I was followed back to my hut by the outgoing female and a goblin laid out another cot for her within. She looked at me and said a few word incomprehensible to me but what I assumed to be good night and then went off to sleep. I laid in my cot thinking over the laid back "normal" day that these goblins lived. I was happy that the legends of my old world were seemingly false and that for the foreseeable future this was to be my new home.
