"Morning already? Damn, I must have passed out on the bed!"
Thap muttered to himself as he made his bed. He then opened the window, taking in the bustling morning life of the city. He still couldn't believe he was stuck in this unknown world and in a strange body.
"I should get going, I heard they serve breakfast downstairs !"
Thap thought to himself as he put on his clothes.
====
"Good morning !"
Thap greeted Rue who was sweeping the floor.
"Oh boy, good morning ! Oh yes, you know. The money that you helped yesterday, would it be possible to exchange it for another night's stay at our inn? ?"
Rue replied, halting his chore.
"Really ??"
Thap replied, his smile widening.
"Yes. Yesterday, it was thanks to you that Roland leave us alone !"
Rue replied, lowering his voice.
"I'm glad that I could help !"
Thap replied, receiving praise from Rue.
"Fre almost done with breakfast, you should wait at the dining hall !"
Rue informed him before continuing with his chore.
Thap nodded and made his way to the dining hall. When he arrived, about 5 people were sitting and chatting, waiting for their food. Most of the inn's residents were not adventurers, as they did not equip themselves with armor or weapons.
Thap sat at one of the tables near the entrance, where he could see and hear everyone in the dining hall.
"You know, I always stay at this inn whenever I'm short on money."
"Yes, thanks to you, now I know this place too!"
"It's the cheapest inn in the city! Fifteen silver coins per night, including meals! Would you believe that?"
"I know, but if the owner doesn't renovate or maintain this building, sooner or later, no one will come to stay."
"True, but I always lose at gambling, so I'm forced to sleep here."
"Hehehe… what a sad life!"
Thap overheard two men talking about the inn. As he began to observe the interior of the building and recall the room he was sleeping in, he realized that what those men were saying was true. The inn was in need of renovations and better maintenance. Curious as to why the owner didn't improve the inn and raise the price, Thap then remembered what had happened the previous night. "Because of debt?!"
He thought to himself while observing.
[Thud !!!]
He quickly heard a group of footsteps entering the inn. There appeared to be three people, young and looking like adventurers. One of them rushed to the front, scanning the room as if searching for someone. The other two stood by the entrance, keeping an eye on the surroundings.
Rue and Fre were in the kitchen, so they didn't notice the three newcomers.
"KEITH, the guy that sitting next to where you were standing! It's him"
The short young man shouted, pointing his index finger toward Thap. Keith and the other guys instantly turned their heads to Thap with furious expressions.
"Are you sure this is the right person, Liam?"
Keith asked the short guy, who appeared to be Liam, for confirmation.
"Yep, I remember his face as clear as crystal !"
Liam replied confidently.
"Did you drink last night ? Hehe"
The unnamed guy asked provocatively accompanied with a laugh.
"NO, Noah, I didn't drink last night! Keith, believe me, last night when I returned home, I accidentally saw that guy make Isabelle cry."
Liam explained.
"Oy, is what he said true ?"
Keith asked Thap with a serious look.
"... Umm"
Thap was a bit surprised and couldn't immediately respond as he tried to recall the events of last night. He knew that he didn't make Isabelle cry, but Roland the one that frightened her. 'Did he see us after Roland left?' he thought to himself.
"Do you hear me ? Are you deaf ?"
Keith asked impatiently.
".. Um .. I think you got the wrong the person — "
"WRONG person ??"
Keith interjected with an aggressive voice, cutting Thap off.
"... calm down first, let's sort this out — "
"Are you trying to play nice ???"
"No .. I'm not!"
"YOU RASCAL!"
Keith shouted, cutting Thap off aggressively.
The voice was so loud that Rue and Fre quickly came out to see what was going on.
"Don't you ever get involved with Isabelle again! You hear that?"
Keith shouted, grabbing Thap's shirt and glaring at him with hostility.
Keith didn't hit Thap because he didn't want to disrupt the business. Rue and Fre rushed to Keith and asked him to let Thap go.
"Keith, please let him go !"
Rue pleaded, trying to loosen Keith's grip.
"It was a misunderstanding, please Keith"
Fre joined in, pleading as well.
Keith threw Thap to the ground.
Confused and shaken as these guys didn't want his explanation, Thap quickly dashed away from the scene through the entrance.
Outside, he saw Isabelle carrying a bag of bread and about to enter the inn.
"... Hey,"
Isabelle began to speak to him, but he ignored her, remembering Keith's warning not to associate with her. He focused solely on running away from these people.
