Chapter 56 - CHAPTER-54 Gryffindor Table

Malfoy, visibly repulsed, covered his nose and entertained the idea of making a swift exit from the classroom. The pungent aroma lingered, and Darren, struggling to contain the contents of his stomach after a hearty morning meal, shared the sentiment.

A fleeting notion crossed his mind – waiting for Malfoy to vacate the room and then nonchalantly stepping out, feigning a search for the Slytherin. However, Malfoy, perhaps against his nature, managed to hold back, leaving Darren no choice but to endure the remainder of the class in a corner, yearning for a swift end.

To his relief, the professor seemed indifferent to the activities within the classroom. As soon as the class concluded, Darren, eager to escape the stifling atmosphere, opened the door, allowing a rush of fresh air to fill his lungs. He seized the opportunity, slipping out ahead of his classmates.

Friday dawned, and for the first time, Harry and Ron managed to arrive at the auditorium on time. They found Darren still there, not having departed yet.

Throughout the week, Harry had hoped to engage Darren in conversation during the morning breakfast, only to find himself lost each time and discovering the Slytherin students had already left upon reaching the auditorium.

"Darren!" Harry hurried over, a tentative inquiry about Darren's well-being on his lips. The question, however, felt feeble, given that Darren had been sitting alone or, at best, accompanied by Malfoy or a reserved Slytherin girl throughout the week. The visible discomfort in Darren's school life was palpable.

"Harry!" Darren turned in surprise, his face lighting up with a broad smile. Harry, to him, represented a beacon of joy. For the past two days, Darren hadn't received any significant rewards at school, earning merely a thousand Holy Father Points.

The learning of a first-grade Potion and a copy of Defence Against the Dark Arts hardly counted as noteworthy achievements. In this moment, he craved someone who could shine in his Father's light, and Harry seemed to fit the bill.

Harry, feeling a slight pang of guilt for not approaching Darren earlier, extended an invitation to join Gryffindor. Unbeknownst to him, the eyes of every Slytherin were fixed on Darren.

No Slytherin had ever voluntarily moved to Gryffindor, and if Darren made such a choice, he would not only face ostracism but potential punishment from the student council.

Feeling the intense scrutiny, Darren, as the little holy father, resisted the pressure and made a sacrifice for Harry. Pursing his lips, he let his face pale under the gaze of numerous Slytherins, displaying a hint of fear.

Despite this, he stood up tenaciously and declared, "Go, brother!"

Surprised by the sudden surge in Father values, Darren found the sum exceeding two thousand – a bounty beyond his expectations. It seemed that Harry was indeed more adept at garnering Father values.

"I hope you can sit down, and if I were you, I'd finish this meal before leaving, Slytherin hates traitors!" Before Darren could make his exit, Kassandra, a Slytherin, pressed her palm against his shoulder. Her tone was nonchalant, but her eyes bore a cold gaze towards Harry.

Unaware of the potential repercussions Darren might face, Harry frowned fiercely. He couldn't understand why Darren was being taken away or why the Slytherin girl sought to stop him. The viciousness of Slytherin left him bewildered.

"I took my brother, it has nothing to do with you!" Harry retorted, determined not to let Kassandra's interference slide. Unbeknownst to him, Darren's departure triggered another wave of Holy Father credits.

Kassandra, with a cold snort, sat back down, her eyes reflecting irony under the pervasive gaze of Slytherin. She had no intention of assisting Darren; she wanted to see if he could withstand Slytherin's revenge.

With Darren's departure, another small wave of Holy Father credits rippled through the atmosphere. The Slytherin students withdrew their gazes from Darren, and the long table returned to its usual silence.

Darren noticed Snape had called Betsy away.

As Darren arrived at the Gryffindor table, a cacophony of sounds greeted him. George's request for a chicken leg, Seamus blowing up a cup, Neville's toad causing a commotion – it was chaos. Harry, feeling somewhat guilty for not approaching Darren earlier, initiated the conversation.

"Now, Darren, for you..." Just as he sighed, Hermione's voice reached him, accompanied by a pork chop. Hermione, noticing Darren's preference, had chosen a dish he enjoyed.

"Ah, thank you, I love it," Darren responded with a polite smile.

"No, it's alright," Hermione stuttered, her embarrassment evident as she sat cramped in her seat.

The Gryffindor table, a world of its own, continued its lively banter. Darren, surrounded by the uproar, couldn't help but feel that perhaps Slytherin suited him more than Gryffindor.
