Chapter 17 - Half an hour to finish

Chu Yi coughed awkwardly and explained, "I didn't fight with the teacher. I just surprised him with my academic prowess."

Joke looked puzzled and asked, "Academic prowess?"

Chu Yi continued earnestly, "I made a bet with him that I could solve all the math problems without any difficulty. He gave me two extremely difficult problems, of course, difficult for other students. For me, they were just a piece of cake, as easy as questions for preschoolers."

"Oh, give it a rest! Chu Yi, we haven't seen you in a week, and your boasting skills have improved!" Henan from Class 15, the second-to-last class, interrupted. Henan was a black-haired girl with a ponytail, a well-known figure among everybody.

Chu Yi hurriedly defended himself, "It's true!"

Joke chuckled, clearly thinking that Chu Yi was exaggerating.

"Ah, why don't you believe me?" Chu Yi looked helpless.

Henan took out a bubblegum from her pocket, chewing on it as she said, "If you can really finish the first math test and share the answers with us, we'll copy them. And when the test papers come back in two days, if we actually pass the math exam, then we'll admit that you're really amazing."

Joke nodded in agreement, "That's a good idea."

Chu Yi remained calm, "It's no big deal. I'll give you the answers after I finish the test." He confidently declared, "I aim to get a perfect score. But when you copy, make some changes to a few answers. If both of you also score full marks, then it'll be interesting!"

Upon hearing this, Henan's large bubblegum burst, and she couldn't help bursting into laughter!

"A perfect score! You think you can get a perfect score in the math test?" Henan laughed, as if she had heard the greatest joke, "Chu Yi, you may not have many other strengths, but you're certainly a master at boasting!"

"Don't laugh, I'm serious," Chu Yi said seriously, "In the past, it might have sounded like a fantasy when I said this, but now, it's just a matter of minutes for me."

Joke couldn't hold back and joined in the laughter.

A student sitting in the second-to-last row of the exam hall claiming to be able to score a perfect mark in math?

It's truly a preposterous claim!

Sitting in the first exam venue, even the top student wouldn't dare guarantee a perfect score in mathematics. How could the student ranked third from the bottom in the entire school be so confident? Is he the legendary humorist?

Just then, the invigilator walked up to the platform and knocked on the table: "Return to your seats! You have one more minute before the test papers are distributed!"

Chu Yi suddenly felt a surge of nervousness in his heart. Since obtaining a high IQ, this was his first formal exam. He couldn't help but feel a bit apprehensive: would his brain really function effectively during the test?

In theory, there shouldn't be a problem, but anyone who has been to school knows that often, knowledge that one thought they had mastered can suddenly vanish upon entering the exam hall!

The test paper quickly arrived in Chu Yi's hands, and he began writing his name.

Immediately after, instead of immediately starting to write, he quickly glanced over the entire test paper to understand the types and difficulty of the questions.

In just twenty-something seconds, Chu Yi had finished reading the entire test paper.

He couldn't help but smile because the test paper seemed too easy for him!

All the questions seemed like child's play, filling him with confidence.

Chu Yi lowered his head and started to seriously answer the questions, putting aside the scratch paper. He didn't need it; he just needed to calculate in his mind.

He completed the first multiple-choice question in one second.

The first five multiple-choice questions were done in fifteen seconds.

He finished all twelve multiple-choice questions in just 1 minute and 30 seconds!

As the students in this exam venue were all low-ranking underachievers, many of them seemed lazy and uninterested in answering the questions upon receiving the test paper. Only a few students intended to answer the questions properly, but they were still struggling with calculations on the scratch paper. At this point, they had only just finished the first multiple-choice question and were still contemplating whether their answers were correct.

However, Chu Yi had already completed all the multiple-choice questions and moved on to fill in the blanks!

This was the difference! The gap in speed was like a chasm!

The next four fill-in-the-blank questions were more challenging, and it took Chu Yi a full three minutes to complete them.

After 4 minutes and 30 seconds, all the multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank questions were completed!

Chu Yi's heartbeat thumped loudly, his face flushed, and he felt truly exhilarated! While others were still pondering over the earlier questions, he had already moved on to the word problems!

There was only one word problem on the first side, and Chu Yi instantly felt elated!

This question appeared in the lower right corner of page 100 in the 63 Exercise Collection. It was a simulated test from a certain year in Ganzhou!

Chu Yi still remembered the entire question's steps and answers, so he didn't even need to think through the calculations; his pen flew across the page, and step by step, the solution flowed effortlessly from his pen. In just three minutes, the whole question was completed, and the steps he wrote down perfectly matched the standard answer steps published in the 63 Answer Book! Chu Yi was confident that not even a celestial being could find any points to deduct!

In less than eight minutes, the entire front side of the test paper was finished!

Chu Yi was so excited that his hands were trembling. After so many years as a student, every exam had been a stressful race against the clock, trying to finish as quickly as possible, only to be cut off when time was up. But now it was different with the super high IQ bestowed upon him; exams had become so effortless!

Eight minutes to complete half of a test paper? Can you believe it? These questions were as simple to him as drinking water!

The teacher seemed quite lazy, directly collecting these questions from elsewhere. Chu Yi immediately recognized that the first three major questions all came from the 63 Exercise Collection. Moreover, these questions had all been used in a simulated test in a certain city in a certain year or were actual exam questions for a certain province. As Chu Yi had thoroughly studied the 63 Exercise Collection, especially the major question section, he had even looked over the answers once. Combined with his extraordinary memory, he hardly forgot anything, so when faced with these three major questions, he hardly hesitated, answering each one with ease, taking only a few minutes for each.

The following major questions started to change, no longer the original questions he had seen before; perhaps the teacher had adapted them from other questions. Faced with these new types of questions, Chu Yi needed to use his own brain to solve them.

At first, Chu Yi was a bit nervous. After all, the teachers who set the questions had over ten or twenty years of rich teaching experience, and they had a deep understanding of the variations in questions. Chu Yi worried that there might suddenly be some tricky or peculiar questions. However, after just fifteen minutes, Chu Yi had already finished answering the final major question.

He didn't encounter the expected tricky or peculiar questions; on the contrary, these questions were quite straightforward, just slightly modified. With a quick glance at the questions, a brief moment of thought, and four to five seconds later, a clear solution would form. Then, as he wrote out his answers, his mind would simultaneously calculate the solutions. Each major question took only a few minutes for him to solve, and the entire process was very smooth.

With the last stroke of his pen, he had completed the entire test paper!

Chu Yi glanced at the clock on the classroom wall. The exam had started at eight o'clock, and it was now eight thirty-one. This meant that he had only used half an hour to complete this math test, which typically takes two hours! Furthermore, not only did he fill the paper completely, but he also ensured that all his answers were correct. Even a few of the major question solution steps were identical to the standard answers!

To be safe, Chu Yi spent another ten minutes checking the entire test paper to confirm there were no mistakes. Then, he remembered the agreement made before the exam with Henan and Joke. So, he divided the scratch paper in two and began meticulously copying his answers.

Chu Yi quickly finished copying the two sets of answers, and cautiously peered out to observe the invigilator at the front of the classroom.

Great! The invigilator was dozing off on their desk!

After all, this was the exam room for the class with the lowest overall grades in the school; the students' performance was generally abysmal. Therefore, the invigilator didn't have high expectations or demands for the students in this exam room. If they wanted to cheat off each other, let them be; even if they collaborated, it would be hard for them to score passing marks. The invigilator didn't really care about this and couldn't be bothered to intervene.

So, Chu Yi openly handed the two sets of answers to Henan and Joke.

Henan and Joke were both very surprised when they received the answers. They had initially thought it was just a joke, but they didn't expect Chu Yi to directly pass on the answers like this.

Moreover, the answer sheet was densely filled with words, even detailing the solution steps for many of the major questions.

What on earth was going on?

Could it be that Chu Yi really knew the entire math test inside out?

This was just too unbelievable! In theory, even if he had some understanding of one or two questions, it might be somewhat believable. But to say that he had mastered the entire math test's answers - how could he have been assigned to the last exam room?

Henan and Joke hesitated for a moment, but they decided to start copying Chu Yi's answers. After all, they couldn't solve several questions correctly by themselves; they might as well trust Chu Yi. Maybe he really did know some of the answers.

After completing the transfer of the answers, Chu Yi quickly started to feel bored. There was still an hour and a half left in the exam; what should he do? He couldn't just sit there for an hour and a half, or he might fall asleep before the exam ended.

So, he decided to hand in his paper early and leave the exam room!

He raised his hand and called out, "Teacher? Teacher?"

The invigilator, who was dozing off on their desk, slowly raised their head and, with sleepy eyes, furrowed their brow. "Student, do you have a question?"

"Can I hand in my paper and leave now?" Chu Yi asked cautiously.

All the students in the class were stunned, turning to look at Chu Yi as if he were an alien.

"If you've completed everything, you can hand in your paper and leave," the invigilator said kindly.

Amid the shocked gazes of the entire exam room, Chu Yi stood up, handed in his paper, and then walked out of the exam room.

That felt amazing!

Chu Yi finished the exam in just half an hour, leaving himself a full hour and a half to play around!

Deliberately walking slowly, Chu Yi casually glanced into other exam rooms as he passed by. All the students were still diligently working at their cramped desks, with many of them looking flushed and tense. When they saw Chu Yi, dressed in his school uniform, strolling past the windows, many of the students were stunned, unsure of what was happening. Most of them hadn't expected Chu Yi to finish the test so quickly and leave, especially since it was still early; most of them hadn't even completed the multiple-choice questions yet!
