Chapter 2 - The 1st Mission

[The host will receive the first mission in 10 seconds…10…9…8..]

Alex stared at the system screen as the countdown continued to tick. "I don't have to worry much. Let it be the way it is." He pondered at the assignment he was expecting from system.

"Yes, I don't have much time to worry about... let it be the way it will come," Alex muttered to himself. The countdown on the screen elapsed, and Alex continued staring with his angular blueish eyes onto the screen. Another mission notification outlined on the screen.

[ The host's 1st mission: Go and assassinate the bandit leader-Jackson]

The information displayed on the screen for a while for Alex. The assignment had been given out, and it was upon Alex to tackle it. "Huh!" (Alex sighed). He was acknowledging the weight of the mission that laid on his shoulders. He came out of his bed, and directly looked down on the floor for a while as if he was having an internal conflicts.

"The bandit leader? Oh! Yes, this is dealing with a criminal and bringing them down without hesitation." Alex said, looking at the information, doubting if there was another task that he would receive from the system.

He looked around, and there on the wall was the bow and a quiver of arrows that had been hunged on the wall. "Wow!" Alex was amazed on seeing the recurved bow on the wall. Looking on the shelf that was directly positioned above the quivers, Alex could see the edge of a short dagger. Alex moved towards the wall and picked up the dagger from the shelve examining it.

Beside his bed, Alex discovered an old grey shield with blue and red stripes. This made Alex comfortable and begun thinking of the mission. This was the advantage he had, but then, where was he going to come across the bandit leader?

His eyes shone with alertness, his mind raced up and down to answer the question of where he was going to find the bandit leader. Alex thoughts captured Hilview City that made him remember the Data Brokers Company. This was an organization where all types of information were sold, and business conducted.

"Okay," Alex remained silent, nodding his head slowly and remembering where this company was located. "I can remember well, it's located opposite the City Mall and next to Flamingo Plaza." This was the place where Alex was going to get the information. Getting the information was not just walking there and purchasing with bare hands. Alex needed some cash.

What was he going to do to get some cash? This was a puzzle that needed to be solved by Alex to settle and ease the mission. He sat on the floor at the center of his room, thinking much, and questions flowing in his mind like a string of a river."after a while, Alex noticed that there was a saving box beside his bed.

However, Alex didn't know how much was there in the saving box. The original Alex who the current body belonged, had saved the coins occasionally from his parents when they were alive and little donations from his friends. He was good at saving than spending. He brought the saving box in his hands and overturned it to let coins come out.

Although Alex had not advanced in his education, mathematics was his knowledge. He hurriedly summed up the amount of coins he had saved. The silver coins amounted to 135 (SC). He knew luck sometimes accompanied him. Alex got up on his feet, and when he was about to move his step towards the quiver on the wall, another notification popped up on the screen.

[Ding! The host is privileged from the Universal Assassination System. He will be informed why he has to eliminate the target - bandit leader- Jackson]

[ Jackson is a bandit leader and needs to be eliminated.

The group of ordinary people from the local community brought the task to us.

The reason being that, bandits had caused a lot of crime to local people, taking their wealth possessions by force and kidnapping their beloved ones in return for wealth gain.

Assassinate the bandit leader to end their activities.]

This information gave Alex a glimpse of the bandit's dark operation involved. Thinking of the plan, another notification popped.

[Ding! The host has a maximum of 72 hours to complete the mission. Failure to complete on time, the host will not be rewarded.]

The system reminded Alex of the possibilities to miss on the tocken rewards. Alex didn't want to waste any more time. He took his currency in the pocket with him and placed his arsenal well. He came out of his house and headed towards the city.

This was a magical world that depended on arcane, and everything was in magic despite a few that needed manual effort. However, Alex decided to follow the route across the Magforest to the city.

Alex ventured into the magical forest, where every step felt like a journey into the unknown. The ancient trees stood tall, their branches intertwined like secrets that whispered through time. Alex walked in a fluid manner. Every step was silently calculated moving swiftly and carefully. The air in the forest was thick and enchanted. Shadows danced on the forest floor with the movements as if guided by unseen forces.

The impending task loomed on Alex mind. However he didn't bother so much encountering with the magical beasts. With the magical creatures in the Magforest that were feared most even with the hunters group but Alex was determined. His minds were just focused on the mission he had recently received from the system.

Darkness cloaked the world, but in this magical realm, Alex was not caught with the harbinger of fear anymore. Each footfall he made was met with a soft response from the enchanted ground, as if the forest itself acknowledged Alex's presence. The canopy above formed a natural tapestry, filtering moonlight and starlight to create a mesmerizing play of shadows across the entire forest.

The further Alex could walk, the denser darkness it could become like a cloak drawing tighter around the world. As Alex continued forward, the sounds of the forest became more pronounced, a symphony of unseen beings harmonizing with the steps of the lone traveler. This journey through the magical forest became a delicate balance between the dangers of the magical creatures and the revelations of the enchanted realm.

The magical creatures, guardians of the Magforest had observed Alex with curious eyes that gleamed in the darkness. However, the howling of the wolves could be heard from a distance. "What!" Alex stopped for awhile to pardon his ears. Exactly, Alex had come across the pack of wolves. "Howl! Howl! Howl! echoes of the alpha wolf could be heard cracking the other end of the forest.

Alex set his weapon in place knowing that he was treading on a dangerous path. He knew how furiously wolves attacked humans, and it was evident that they had sensed the human presence. The world then draped in darkness and Alex wondered how he was going to locate the wolves, kill them, and proceed. This was not going to stop him anymore.

Alex kept moving onwards but all of a sudden, the alpha wolf appeared in front of him about 10 meters away. Other wolves followed howling and staring at Alex as if they were informing him to say his last prayers.

Alex stood with his feet shoulder-width apart, positioned his body at a 90-degree angle directly to the alpha wolf. He placed the arrow on the arrow rest and attached the nock to the bowstring. He extended the bow arm fully pulling it back with the bowstring smoothly and focused on the alpha wolf's head-weak point.

Narrowing his eyes on the bowstring for reference on the target, Alex couldn't wait to bring down the alpha wolf by relaxing his fingers to let the bowstring slip away naturally. He maintained his steady stance to follow through and did so to other wolves. In about fifteen minutes, Alex had brought down all the wolves and didn't bother to

check if they were dead. He swiftly moved past the fallen creatures, each step calculated.

The darkness in the magical forest, once a cloak of mysteries, then seemed to retreat as Alex progressed. The enchanted realm responded to his mastery over the bow, acknowledging his presence. Nevertheless, the system projection materialized in front of Alex. The notification popped on the screen with a commentary acknowledgment.

[Ding! Congratulations, the host elimination of the obstacles to the mission acknowledged. You killed power level -4 wolves. Check your interface for your advanced power level and strength. Proceed!]

Alex continued through the Magforest, the trees seemed to whisper secrets of his journey, their ancient knowledge woven into the fabric of the mystical realm. The shadows, once dancing with uncertainty, now followed him like loyal companions.

The howls of the wolves, once menacing, were silenced by the precision of Alex's archery. The alpha wolf, once mighty, lay defeated, its gleaming eyes then dull. With each fallen creature, Alex's confidence grew.

The enchanted ground seemed to vibrate with his purpose, the very essence of the forest aligning with his mission. Alex anticipation was no full of doubts. The path ahead, though still shrouded in darkness, felt less foreboding. The symphony of the unseen beings turned into a melodic hum, as if nature itself acknowledged Alex's journey.

The magical creatures, having witnessed the prowess of the lone traveler, now observed him with a newfound respect. The gleam in their curious eyes mirrored a silent acknowledgment of his skill.

Alex pressed on, the forest gradually thinning as the city's outskirts approached. The once-dense darkness lifted, revealing a tapestry of morning stars and Alex entered the City.
