Feeling pity on the girl, and knowing how much of a hassle the Stolls could be, he walked up until he stood behind the Stolls, his arms crossed and just waiting for them to bump into him. Once they did, they stiffened and turned around slowly only to see the imposing figure of Jakob standing there, who towered over them by a few inches.
"H-Hey Jakob." Connor said nervously. One thing that made some nervous around Jakob was the fact he wasn't the fact that he was Thor's son (though that did factor in a bit), it was how intimidating he can be by just standing there and not saying a word while caressing the flat side of his Axe.
Plus it may have also helped that on his first night here, some Hermes kids tried to take the Leviathan Axe as well as Mimir's head, only for Jakob to put a stop to that and make it clear to all; don't touch his stuff.
"How are you on this fine day?" The other Stoll, Travis, asked just as nervously as his brother.
"Just fine." Jakob grunted, eyes sparking with lightning a little and he withheld the urge to smirk as the Stolls looked more petrified, especially as thunder could be heard beginning to rumble above, dark clouds rolling in. "Now, if I were you two... I'd leave the poor girl and walk away before someone gets hurt, wouldn't you say?"
"Sir, yes sir!" The Stolls saluted him and ran off quickly, leaving Jakob alone with the girl.
"You okay?" Jakob asked.
The girl scowled, then sighed. "Yeah, I'm okay. Thanks for helping me."
"No problem. I know how much of a hassle they can be."
"You have no idea." The girl scowled cutely. "They are so annoying. And they never stop."
"Well, they won't bother you if I have anything to say about it."
"Thanks." The girl reached out, offering to shake his hand. "I'm Katie Gardner."
"Jakob Thorsson." He shook her hand in return, feeling how rough it was. Which surprised him; he didn't expect a girl like her to have hands so rough, but then again, it wasn't right to assume things.
Katie's eyes lit up with recognition. "The son of Thor, right?" Jakob nodded. "Thought you looked familiar. Still hard to believe the Norse Gods actually exist."
Jakob raised a brow. "If the Greek Gods exist, what makes you think the other pantheons don't? Who says the Egyptians, the Norse, the Shinto, the Hindu, all the pantheons of Gods don't exist?"
Katie opened her mouth to say something but couldn't find anything to respond with, so she shrugged and nodded. "That makes sense."
"So, who's your Olympian parent?" Jakob asked curiously.
"Demeter, Goddess of agriculture." Katie said with a proud smile. Jakob hummed, so she was from Cabin Four. That explained the calluses on her hands; from working in her cabin.
"I see." Was all Jakob said in regards to that. "Well, I know Freyr and Demeter would get along well, given Freyr is regarded with great respect for harvest."
Katie tilted her head. "Isn't Freyr a Aesir God?"
"No lass, he's one of the Vanir." Mimir said, causing Jakob to lift the head up from the back of hip and show him to Katie.
"Wow, you really do have a talking head with you." Katie said with wide eyes. "And who are you?"
"Mimir, smartest man alive!" Mimir boasted proudly. "And I have the answer to your every question."
"No he doesn't." Jakob snorted. "There's gaps in his knowledge."
"Hey, Odin had me imprisoned in a damn tree for a long time! I'm a clever lad!" Mimir defended himself.
Katie frowned, confused by his words. "You were imprisoned in a tree... why not just cut you free from it?"
"Jakob would've if the tree had been any regular tree." Mimir said with a sigh. "Odin made sure that no weapon, not even Thor's hammer, could free my body from those bonds. So the best thing to do was chop off my head and reanimate it."
Katie's eyes were wide with disbelief and horror, disbelief that there was a tree that couldn't be broken even if Thor himself tried to smash it with his legendary hammer. Horror that Mimir had to get his head decapitated just to be free and then have it reanimated so he wasn't dead.
"it's a long story." Jakob explained, getting a nod from Katie. "Anyway, I better go. I have sword-fighting lessons with the Hermes cabin... even though I wield an axe."
"Nothing wrong with trying out all weapons, brother. You know that better than most." Mimir reminded.
"True." Jakob nodded and hooked Mimir back onto his belt behind him. "I should be going."
"Okay, I hope to see you around." Katie said, getting a nod from the son of Thor before he parted ways with the daughter of Demeter.
"She's quite nice, wouldn't you agree?" Mimir said slyly, causing Jakob to grunt in response which just made Mimir chuckle. Jakob may have been trained and grown up in the harsh world of Asgard, with Thor as his father, and those two twits Magni and Modi as his brothers, but beneath that hardened exterior of a warrior was a twelve year old boy, so Mimir wouldn't be surprised if Jakob liked spending time with girls like Annabeth, Andromeda, Silena and now Katie.
Arriving where the lesson would take place, Jakob joined up with everyone from Cabin Eleven gathered in the big circular arena, where Luke would be the instructor.
He started with the basic stabbing and thrusting, using some straw-stuffed dummies in Greek armour.
Like Mimir had mentioned, Jakob had practiced with all types of weapons, including a sword so he wasn't inexperienced when handling one in the lesson. The only reason he had the Leviathan Axe was because it had been given to him by Loki himself.
At Luke's request, Jakob demonstrated some of the Leviathan Axe's abilities, telling him and everyone that it was forged by Dwarves, the same Dwarves who forged Thor's hammer, Mjölnir. The weapon was also infused with the echoing screams of twenty frost trolls (give or take). So basically, it was a frost axe that was deadly to those that were Jakob's opponents.
