"He's not even that good-looking. I can't crush on him." Jessica hissed.
I found the whole scenario very funny and so I burst into laughter. I had been smiling from ear to ear before now.
Stacy began chasing Jessica around and so I left them in the hallway and went to my corner to get ready to go and shower. They only stopped when they saw me going downstairs and then rushed into the hostel to get ready.

By the time we finished having dinner and getting to the hall. The whole place was filled up and there were only a few seats left.
Stacy met with her cousin to know if he reserved any seats for us.
"You are beginning to abuse your privilege. Why will you be coming in now?" He scolded her.
"I am sorry. We were delayed by something urgent." Stacy apologised.
"That's your business, just know I won't be doing these things for you once other students resume."
"Thank you. You are the best cousin ever." Stacy whispered to him.
We sat in the front row which had originally been reserved for the prefects.
We waited for a while before the movie began because the prefects were having a heated argument in the background about which movie we are to watch. The male prefects wanted something else while the female prefects also wanted something else. They didn't even bother to ask for our opinion even though the movie night was for us.
They finally came to an agreement by drawing lots. The two movies that were finally picked were the movies I wanted to watch all along.
We were given drinks and biscuits and not popcorn as other students had been speculating.
By the time we were done with the first movie, I was already in tears. I remembered the last time I visited a cinema to watch a 5D movie. Memories of that day flashed through my mind and I began to sob.
I didn't notice I was crying until Stacy nudged me with her elbow.
"Hey, what's wrong? Why are you crying?"
"Huh, I am not crying." I lied.
"Why are there tears in your eyes?"
"Are you that touched by the movie?" Jessica asked as she noticed what was happening when she turned around.
"I guess it's the movie that's making me shed tears." I laughed as I used my handkerchief to clean my eyes.
"You are such a softie," Stacy remarked.
And we all laughed.
I had watched far more emotional movies than this one and I didn't shed a single tear.
I could remember the day we all watched Lilo and Stitch back at home. Katie cried throughout the movie and I couldn't help but laugh at her back then.
She had made jest of me telling me that I have a stone heart.
For me, it made no sense because it was just a movie at that time, but now having seen what Victor went through, I wouldn't think the same again.
As with every good thing, the movie night came to an end. It felt so soon to us as it was in the same time range as our prep time, a two-hour movie that felt like it was just thirty minutes.
We all murmured when the social prefect tried to turn off the projector and he gave us an extra thirty minutes which the nosy security officers interrupted saying it was time for lights out.
We all went back to our hostel lamenting and cussing at them.

The next day went on as usual with a lot of excitement in the air for the upcoming gala night and our meals were a bit different.
I had just finished doing my laundry and came into the hostel and it was very rowdy. The majority of the students were gathered in a corner and it piqued my curiosity as to what was going on.
I went straight to Stacy's corner to ask her about it as she always knew the current trend.
"Hey! Stacy, what's going on? Why is everyone swarming in that corner?" I asked as I sat down on her bed.
She was eating groundnuts and I took a handful from her bowl, one of the perks of being the senior prefect's relative.
"Don't take too much." Stacy cautioned me as I reached out for her bowl.
"So, what's going on?" I asked her again.
"Ooh!, a new student arrived today in that corner."
"Is that why they are swarming around her? Is not as if she is the only new student here?" I sighed.
"Huuh, don't even say that. Have you seen her?" Stacy blurted out.
"No! I didn't see her. Can't you see the crowd?" I replied as I pointed at the corner.
"Heei, if you see this girl. She's very beautiful as if she's a mermaid." Stacy said as she covered her hands with her mouth.
"Is that all?" I rolled my eyes. I couldn't understand what the fuss was all about just because of a beautiful student.
Stacy hissed at my comment before responding, "And she also has an accent. It seems like she just returned from overseas."
"Seriously! I need to see her."
I stood up and went back to my corner. I stood up on my bed so that I could see her clearly but It didn't work so I gave up and went to sleep. My nap was more important than trying to find out what the new student looked like.
We were coming back from games when we ran into Tracy, the new student. She was also coming back from games.
Stacy tapped me as she tried to draw my attention.
"That's the girl," Stacy whispered to me.
