CHAPTER 31: SHORT TALES – A NEW SIBLING (II)
Back and forth Sokka looked between the approaching father daughter duo and the unknowing wife of the father looking at him with a serious look.
"Uhm... hey babe," he tried but the words simply couldn't come out. "General uhm sir... I er uhm...'
"Hello Sokka," Tamutae greeted him. "How did you sleep last night?"
"Well I uhm slept quite well," he tried to answer.
"Good morning ma'am," Suki turned to Suki as she joined them on the table. "How are you feeling today?"
Satori's expression suddenly returned to normal as if nothing happened.
"Quite good Suki," she answered. "I never thanked you for bringing back Dolo yesterday. Please make yourselves at home."
"Thank you madam," Suki answered and grabbed an orange looking apple like fruit and started biting into it.
"So how is Dolo doing this morning?" Sokka tried to change the subject and ease his mind.
"Satori and I were with him this morning and he appears to have returned to normal and should be fine with a few days rest." Tamutae answered. "I actually wanted to talk to you about the situation with our imminent departure."
"Okay sure sir," Sokka hurriedly agreed and got up to live but then he felt that ominous feeling once again. The feeling being in the eyesight of a predator about to jump on you.
"One more thing before you live my dear," Satori said in a serious and ominous voice. "There is something I have been meaning to ask you."
The air quickly spoke volumes of what exactly she was about to ask. Sokka didn't yet know why he was so scared of her knowing Suki was the General's daughter. All he knew was that it would lead to something bad for some reason.
"Since I saw you at the clinic I have noticed the stares between you and Suki," she began. "How exactly are the two of you connected?"
Silence dominated the area. Sokka could just barely stand from the sheer pressure that was emanating from Satori. It wasn't quite on the same level as the pressure he felt from Aang when he fought Zuko in his Avatar State but it was definitely stronger than the pressure he felt from Zuko. Once again he realised that even this pregnant, this lady was no joke.
"She... Su-Suki.... is er, uhm er my d-d-daughter." Tamutae hesitated but held his ground and said it. He was still a powerhouse in his own right. He wasn't afraid he would be defeated by her which was a real possibility but what she could do to his career due to her bloodline and connections.
"D-daughter?" Satori uttered in disbelief. "Did you cheat on me again!?"
The ground started to shake from the lost of her temper. The shaking and rumbling extended towards the entire mansion and surrounding areas.
"Calm down Satori!!" Tamutae roared. "This happened before I even met you! I had a life before I moved to Ba Sing Se you know!"
"Before you left Oma Shu?" Satori made sure with tearfilled eyes.
"Suki is my daughter with Yukari!" He revealed. "I told you about Yukari before our wedding remember."
Sokka and Suki silently stared at the red tear filled eyes of Satori as the quaking calmed.
"Please calm down," Satori urged her. "The baby is due any day now so please my love."
By his words she grimaced a bit in pain. Tamutae kneeled down to her and wrapped his arm around her. He tried to comfort her as carefully as possible to avoid any unnecessary damage to the infant.
"Why didn't you just tell me?" Satori asked with a hint of pain in her voice. "I thought you were cheating on me again."
"That happened before we even had the twins," Tamutae revealed. "I promised you it would never happen again. You are the only one for me Satori."
"The thing is I was the one who actually wanted to meet him," Suki suddenly revealed. "Not even my mother is aware that I am here so I apologise for any confusion."
"My apologies as well to you both," she apologized as well. "My mind had started wondering and I was reading too much into things."
"Thank you madam!" Suki accepted with a wide smile that hid her own tears.
"There's no need my love," Tamutae assured her.
"I think I need to lie down a bit," she said. Tamutae helped her up by wrapping her arm over his head.
"Slowly now honey," Tamutae continue to comfort her and help her on the way towards the mansion.
"You were right I should n-not have done that," Satori revealed. "Send for Doctor Koru, the baby is coming now!" She screamed in pain.
"Suki!" Tamutae called. "Come help Satori while I go get Koru!"
Sokka and Suki hesitated for a moment and looked to each other before they both hurried over to the side of the very pregnant Satori who continued to groan and moan in pain while heavy breathing.
With Sokka and Suki either side of Satori and helping her walk, Tamutae disappeared into the ground using his bending.
"To my room," Satori ordered as they entered the mansion.
"Which side was your room again?" Sokka asked in confusion.
"The big ass room with the giant doors at the end of the hallway!" Satori snapped in frustration at his nervousness.
