Chapter 34 - Ever The Contrarian

CHAPTER THIRTY THREE

"So, yeah, I prefer slicing peaches to slicing people, but what matters is that I'm alive. right?" Mercury asked (flashback to chapter 2) Mags was clutching his head in his hands. Nox and Ioine had occasionally corrected her or offered their own opinion, but for the most part of the last ten minutes, Mercury had been jabbering. The truth she had hidden so desperately from the world had been lain bare within just a few minutes. "So… Mercury?" Mags asked, and Mercury tilted her head. "What?"

"We've won the war with this. But where is the crown prince?" Mags asked, waving the crown in his hand. "Dunno. Did he even show up, that douchebag?" Mercury asked hands on her hips. "Douchebag?" Mags questioned, and Mercury grinned like a cat. "Yeah. apparently, I was important for his plans or something. Anyway, he can't get rid of me, so I get to fearlessly say my opinion." Our MC proudly beamed, and Mags laughed. "You might get executed for treason."

"Worth it, and also I doubt that'll happen. But, back on track, why didnt you tell anyone you were from house Eur?" Mercury asked, and Mags suddenly froze. "What?" He said, slowly, and Mercury nervously bit her fingernail. Oops, had she gone too far? Maybe she should have been more discreet about it. Hidden it better. But then again, that didnt really match up with her personally.

"No, I just used that seal. Im not from house Eur. You wouldn't be alive if I were." Mags huffed, and Mercury blinked. Oh right. "Really? It's been a month?" Mercury asked, and Mags nodded. "It's actually been two."

"Aha. Yeah. Sorry." Mercury said and then slapped herself on the head. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid! How was she still alive with a smooth brain like hers? what the hell!

"Ahem. I heard?" The crown prince said, finally entering the throne room. "where were you? here, catch!" Mercury said, throwing the crown across the room. Kinda disrespectful for something other people would kill for. "Why are you throwing it at me!" The corwn prince screeched, slamming the crown back across the room with one hand. "WAIT, WHAT?" Mercury said, catching the crown. Huh? why was it back in her hand?

"You think I want to be emperor?! No! I want to retire at the age of twenty and laz off in a distant village for the rest of my life! not this emperor stuff that's going on!" The crown prince yelled, and Mercury dropped the crown in surprise. Hey, that's what she wanted to do! "Ah? Who's going to be emperor then?" mags said. That's exactly what the author wanted to ask. Then, a voice rang out. One that hadn't spoken in a while, one with silvery blue hair in jagged layers.

"Me. I'll be emperor." Iodine said, raising her hand.

Uncertainly was flickering through her eyes, but her hand was firmly in the air. Iodine. "Yeah, that's a viable option. You wanna be emperor?" The crown prince said, pointing a finger at her. "Uhmm… Yes please." Iodine said hesitantly, and the Prince nodded. Well, Mercury did suppose it was over now. The war had been won. Now onto the fluff!
