Chapter 8 - smitten

Bethany drove her sport car, cruising with her two friends, Angie and Rocky.

"This is so fun. I told you both to always take a drive!" Bethany shouted as the wind blew, suppressing the pitch of her voice.

"Woah! Where are you taking us to?" Angie asked.

"Somewhere very nice and different from where we all go!" Bethany said and then continued her words.

"That seems very nice, Beth."

" We are going to have drinks and parteyy till dawn!" Bethany screamed her reply and drove faster with her friends screaming in delight. They played their music a little louder but not enough to disturb others as they didn't want to get in trouble with the cops. They kept singing the song in a high tone and they were so immersed in the fun that Beth did not notice an approaching motor bike.

She quickly stepped on the brake to stop the car and so also the rider of the motor bike so that he wouldn't crash into them but he unfortunately lost balance and fell.

"Oh my goodness!" Bethany exclaimed in fright with her friends. They hurriedly got down from the car.

"Are you blind or something, Why weren't you watching your way?" Bethany snapped at the young man on the floor, her fear turning into anger.

Gabriel lifted his eyes and glared at the reckless driver who had almost hit him with and was still very rude.

He was greatly irritated, realizing it was the same lady from the bar. His mood turning sour as he glared at her with a killer look.

He looked at the famous and wealthy Bethany Downs. He hated her attitude to no end but somehow he admired her personality.

She didn't show show out to the people what she was not, she didn't try to impress people and lived her life how she wanted it and not to the expectations of the people, she was still loved regardless.

Bethany glared daggers at the guy who sat on the floor with an elegant pose before her memories came to remind her that he was the bar attendant who had helped her the other day at the bar.

"Are you trying to frame me for a compensation." Bethany asked before looking around for a road officer but she didn't see anyone as it was a little deserted street with people in their houses.

Angie and Rocky climbed down from the. car and walked to her side and Angie glared at Gabriel for almost putting them in trouble with his carelessness.

"Why were you being so careless?"Angie asked Gabriel taking in his appearance where he dressed seductively with few buttons of his shirt opened

Rocky hurried to Gabriel side to help him up.

"Thank you," Gabriel murmured to her. Rocky smiled at him feeling smitten by his voice and looks.

"You are welcome. I hope you are okay and not hurt?" She asked.

" I am fine, thanks. "Gabriel offered her a tight smile.

Angie rolled her eyes at the attention Rocky was giving Gabriel and the concern.

"Gosh Rocky! Can't you see that he is trying to make us pay him by faking an accident?" Angie asked folding her hands and having a defiant look on her face.

Gabriel ignored them and without a second glance or any word, he climbed his bike and rode away while Rocky looked at him as he left.

"Don't tell me you are smitten by that guy?"

Angie asked before shaking her head."No, am not!" Rocky was quick to retort and walked back to the car leaving her friends to stand.

"It was all his faults, This wouldn't have happened if he was careful enough!" Angie remarked before walking to join Rocky who was in the car in a sour mood.

Bethany bit her lower lips as she couldn't help the feeling of guilt with the way Gabriel left. They seemed to always meet coincidentally.

She entered her car and drove off with her friends with guilt weighing down in her mind for a long time in her life.

Gabriel got to his house and sat on his bed in his small apartment.

He brought out the first aid kit in his room and tended to the wound he got during the accident.

A blank expression adorned his face and to his utmost surprise, he found himself thinking about the lady who passed out in his bar house and almost hit him with her car. Bethany Downs!

He does not know the reason he feel attracted to the lady. She was running through his mind.

Though, She is a very rude person, he found himself noticing her as their parts often crossed.

He walked closer to his study table before going through his correspondence and responded to some important ones and ignoring the few ones he felt to be unimportant.

Bethany walked briskly into the mansion, she was feeling annoyed but did not want to admit the reason she felt the slight annoyance. The housekeeper opened the door for her after noticing her return before she got to the main entrance.

"Welcome, Miss Bethany." The polite voice of the housekeeper rang through the silent hallways.

She ignored the polite greetings of the housekeeper of the house but she turned after having a change of mind and said.

"Ask a maid to send my dinner to my room."

She walked away.

She entered her bedroom and changed her clothes still feeling annoyed.

She had left her friends in the club house, She somehow felt guilty when she had nearly hit him with her car.

"Was I rude, should I have apologized?" She murmured as her conscience began to gnaw at her.

"No. Bethany Downs do not apologize to anyone especially not to a person below me." She said nodding her head to kill her conscience that was disturbing her.

"It is not like it was my fault, he could have watched where he was going to." She sighed and waited for her supper to be brought to her room.
