"The successor has surpassed the limits of an expert, which resulted in the skill to rank up."
After reading the description, James was amazed to know that his mother's talent was higher than an A-rank expert. He was in a shock.
"System?" James's mother exclaimed.
Both the mother and son were looking at each other hastily. James was the only one who could hear, see and speak to the system, but it was no longer a secret to his mother because she had her own system panel after gaining a skill.
"What are you talking about, mom? What system?" he gave her a signal with the unfamiliar tone.
"No, it's nothing. I'm just surprised because of that strange …book. It just entered in my head and there were a lot of new construction ideas I had in my mind in a split second." his mother replied while hiding her questions.
It was not the first time when both the mother and son duo were talking secretly.
"Hey, son! Did you notice the zombies outside our house? Take a look at their head. The kitchen knives were all used up because of them, leaving only one knife that you had. So, it's better you give it back and use that baseball bat." his father asked, not caring about the book that disappeared in front of him.
"Umm… the knife!? I broke it accidentally." said James with an ashamed look on his face.
James had arrived at his house safely thanks to his subconsciousness making him move towards it instinctively. It was already a blur memory in his mind, so he didn't look at the zombie corpses.
James's mind was in a deep thought as to why his parents were adapting to the apocalypse at a very speed. After giving his mother a skill, she was linked to James's system, but she didn't know the fact of his rebirth. She was linked to the system all because of her skill being a part of his system.
After a brief discussion over the plan to go out and ask for the military's help, it was called off. The reason was simple because James knew that it would be attacked by a horde of 10,000 F-rank and low level zombie's.
James had a plan going in his mind since he woke up at the chair. He was thinking about using his system to enhance the objects of his house slowly and turning it into an iron wall which could not be crossed by the zombie's easily.
"System, how many Spiritual Energy Strands do I have left?"
*Ding*
"Host, you have a total of 37 Spiritual Energy Strands."
After hearing the amount of Spiritual Energy Strands, he had thought of enhancing the house from a lot of aspects. He was not able to find the correct order for enhancing. If the doors were strong, the walls and windows would be a threat from those rotting bastards roaming around. No matter what he thought about, he could only cry for the system.
"System, help me to enhance the house."
*Ding*
"Host, you can use 10 Spiritual Energy Strands to enhance the whole house. It's not suggested to upgrade every thing one by one."
James didn't agree immediately, but after a long thought he placed his hand on the wall and spoke softly, "Enhance."
The house was shaking crazily as if a truck hit it hard and the walls could fall any moment. After everyone gathered in the living room. They all noticed James transferring a colorful light surrounding his body to the wall he had his hand placed on.
It was only a few moments when the house stopped shaking. There was not a single visible change everyone could notice. As soon as James lifted his hand, the system's message popped up.
*Ding*
"Congratulations Host. The house has been enhanced to Level 1. Its defensive capability have enhanced 2 times the original. It can easily hold off an F-rank zombie for 3 hours."
"Spiritual Energy Strands- 37-->27 "
James was not confident to face an F-rank zombie before his advancement, let alone holding off one of those for more than 30 minutes. He was shocked to know that the house can be strong enough to face an F-rank zombie. James didn't think much and questioned the system in curiosity.
"System, can I enhance it to the next level?"
*Ding*
"Host, you can enhance the house with 20 Spiritual Energy Strands."
"Enhance" James spoke again, touching the wall again.
There was not much sound like earlier. The house's changes were visible easily. The walls were now looking more smooth and the ceilings were looking more magnificent, just as they were new.
It didn't stop with these visible changes. James was able to feel the house growing roots underground. These roots were attracted towards the zombies in front of the house as if they were craving their bodies. The roots stopped after reaching 1 meter underneath the zombies.
*Ding
"Congratulations Host. The house has been enhanced to Level 2. Its defensive capability have enhanced 5 times the original. It can easily hold off a maximum of 2 F-rank zombies for 7 hours."
*Ding*
"Congratulations Host. Your house has gained the F-rank skill 'Predatory'."
"Description- It will grow out its root and absorb any energy as its nutrition."
*Ding*
"Host, your house asks for your order to absorb the bodies."
James had already sensed the emotions of house before the system panel appeared.
After being enhanced and gaining spirituality, his house was similar to a child asking to open its Christmas gift.
After receiving his order, the roots dashed towards the bodies, entering through their stomach, piercing it mercilessly and dragging it underground at an alarming rate.
The roots grew more with the nutrition provided by the zombies.
James removed its hands from the walls. He went outside to see the bodies, but couldn't find them. All he could see were holes covered up with the tree barks made from his house's merciless roots. He tried to order his house to make the roots expand as much as it could.
Surprised to see that they could reach 13 meters around the house, James had a plan in his mind.
