Adhering to the requested audience with General Zhu, Chi Cheng followed the Palace General outside the Han clan's main estate. Zhu Zhiying was rather approachable to converse with, contrary to his dangerous appearance.
The man walked briskly, yet paced himself enough for Chi Cheng to walk beside him rather than behind. Uncertain of his impulsive decision to ascertain General Zhu's intentions, Chi Cheng bit his lower lip.
"You have my gratitude," General Zhu thanked, nodding politely, his expression unreadable. "You had no reason to adhere to my request."
"It is I who should thank you, General Zhu." Chi Cheng smiled. "I have not made a decision regarding your proposition but I do not deny that I am interested."
Halting when they reached the middle of the stone bridge, General Zhu leaned against the bridge's rail, crossing his arms over his chest. Chi Cheng stood beside him, his hands clasped behind his back.
