Blinking his eyes to adjust his vision to the light intensity, Chi Cheng awoke steadily. He groaned, urging his body up only to find that he rested on the bed in the Grandmaster's bedroom.
The bronze brazier was lit, casting its fiery brightness over the entire room while its flames crackled. The windows were open, allowing the mountainous zephyrs to breeze in and judging by the darkness outside, it was still night.
Rubbing his eyes, Chi Cheng tried to move off the bed but a strong arm around his torso reined him in. His back pressed against something solid, but there was a gelid nature to whatever it was.
A warm breath tickled along his neck, like a raspy, breathy sigh which sent a shiverish sensation along his spine. Turning his head back to look at the one who embraced him so tightly from behind, Chi Cheng blinked tightly again.
