Chapter 264 - A haunting reminder

Somewhere, at the back of his distraught mind, Chi Cheng had always known that the Wu General was the spitting image of the Celestial Empress he once revered as a mother.

Wu Lihua, although spiteful in some ways, reflected the same lavender shaded eyes as the Celestial Empress. The Wu General donned light purplish and white coloured robes; her hair styled extravagantly with various hair ornaments. Her hands were set on the hips of her slim waist complemented by a golden belt and she regarded him with a nostalgic smile.

Chi Cheng felt suffocated.

His chest heaved hysterically as memories of the Celestial Empress treating him kindly and with affection flickered across his mind. He recounted every waking moment she smiled at him with motherly love, every aching hour he returned from demon expeditions and every troublesome scenario when disputes would break out amongst the different squadrons of hunters…she was there to support him.
