Chapter 1 - Ambition

Dr Alcian Garzo was a chief scientist at the Advanced Large Hadron Absorber (ALHA) developed to research and manipulate Higgs Boson particle to crate entirely new elements by use of large gravitational depression that can theoretically act like a black hole. Through this study the team of scientists discovered the flow of energy a vastly different spectrum compared to the normal ones experienced in the solar system and this newly discovered energy had water like properties but was highly corrosive to lifeforms.

It was thus with the support of the countries like US and Russia that aided and funded the project a new sub program initiated by the Chief to find an alternative source of energy. But after 3 years there was still truly little progress. As more they study more dangerous paths their studies took, and mistakes made in search of a result lives lost due to accidental exposure or the scientists succumbed to mental instability due to assorted reasons which baffled the medical staff.

The Chief had accepted his defeat by now as he summarised that the technology of the human was still insufficient to research the force knows as Y-stream or he had decided to forgo the continued research on the subject due to heavy influence on spiritual, moral and religious ideologies from the research team, the investors and the possible implications in the world if the research subject and its details are known to the people through media. But by a miracle or fate he and his team found even better alternative, a new force that is travelling from the centre of the Galaxy to lower energy areas. The most significant part is that this new stream is intersecting five planets each with high to low energy levels.

Captain Rosen Salrvik was the UN liaison working as a bioengineering diplomate.

"Good day Chief, the representatives from various factions have arrived for the demonstration I hope it's worth the hype or the Council will be very disappointed."

The advances in Quantum computer technology increased the accuracy of gene mapping. More nations are involving high scale genetic research which resulted in the UN to take measures to implement new laws after the Article 2 and 13 of Oviedo Convention was replaced by the European nations.

The article 2 emphasizes the primacy of the human being and the prohibition of eugenic practices aimed at the selection of persons or the enhancement of genetic traits. And the article 13 addresses interventions on the human genome. It stipulates that an intervention seeking to modify the human genome may only be undertaken for preventive, diagnostic, or therapeutic purposes and only if it does not have the aim of introducing any modification in the genome of any descendants. Thus, all suddenly it is a genetic arms race for the Nations of the world, bioengineering and genetic research has thereby become part of diplomacy.

"Good day to you too Miss Salrvik, nothing motivates more than having a rising star from the UN giving encouragement. I hope you are truly here for the experiments and not for one of your personal endeavours. We do not want any more unnecessary attention".

Rosen gave him a knowing look and answered.

"For a project that has crossed half a trillion it already has all the attention of the world; low key is not something that goes together with it. No matter what you do today it will be the headlines tomorrow".

Alcian was not as accepting as Rosen had hoped.

"You know what I mean Captain. This project is far too important for the humanity to be interfered by political and bureaucratic stunts. This project will define the next evolution of the humankind. This will be my "Magnum Opus"!

"Ok as you say Dr Garzo, you can have your movement" Rosen quipped.

"Say is it true what they say about you finding galactic road of sorts. What does this road have to do with the experiment?"

Alcian give he an incredulous look and had a questing look. He could not believe that one of his team had exposed the secrets of his work.

"Where did you hear that? You are not supposed to know core details and especially rumour that would fill the unintelligent thoughts of those morons. Keep everything you hear to yourself Captain, and you should understand that rumours are no longer secrets. And secrecy is necessary when we are dealing with higher forces that we barely begin to understand unless a hooligan tried a stupid stunt. We already had our hands full with the Ethics committee and religious nutjobs in the system."

Dr Garzo had been like a rooster guarding his chicks when it comes to the new program. His colleagues and contenders would give an arm or a leg to be in his place. So, getting something out of him by casual conversation was not something she expected. He had to be extremely careful when dealing with opportunists.

Together they made their way to the experiment site. It is a highly enclosed space of about two thousand square feet cubic space covered completely from all sides with lead to provide shielding from external interference. Dr Yamato and Dr Amelia the leads for the secondary and tertiary tests were waiting for them at the entrance to the chamber.

"Tell me more about the experiments." Roden wanted to gather a greater understanding if all hell were to break loose.

"The experiment we are about to conduct is an eight-level multistage procedure, each will having a separate team and will encompass multiple fields of study a has a total of 337 major and minor experiments and will span duration of 25 to 30 days. As there was no space for all the equipment and researchers to be together in the cube the entrance to the cube designed outwards, designed in such a way that maximum shielding while not limit the access. We created a narrow passage that would give claustrophobia. But the experiment chamber can only have up to nine people at the first level the initialization where the scientists will use a new method incentivised by myself and Dr Lewis by observing the Hidden stream. We call it the Houdini method where they manipulate the Higgs boson particles to mimic the hidden stream and influence the newly discovered energy stream. Though we really need to work on naming senses."

"How is it possible?" Rosen asked curiously.

"Well, it was Dr Yamato who produced the idea of using a fishing tactic. Some simple ideas executed in complex ways can give the desired outcome or so we hope. Humans cannot travel light years to reach the energy stream but something from earth still can, that is the stream they previously found. So, the idea here is to utilize an enormous collection of consecutive signals that will function as a guide to carry packets of specific charge particles that can create a small channel for the energy to diverge towards the solar system. Since the entire facility was on the moon primary parties had little objection to a near suicidal attempt. We are in need to large and efficient clean energy sources. This thing beats the best we can produce by miles. There is no doubting that humanity will progress, and this will not be limited to technology and infrastructure, I believe there will be fundamental change that will improve our race."

"So what about the backlash you are receiving from the ethics board and your colleagues? They do not seem so enthusiastic about this as you are, they say this will bring unintended consequences that you are not able to manage." Rosen enquired

"So what let the haters hate me for what we are about to do. The rapid development of technology during the 19th century was built upon the life of millions. War is what provided the money and resources. At least what we are doing will not result in a War with millions of lives on the line. Let there be consequences we might be the most probable casualty. I have made my peace with the world." Alcian was headstrong on his believes more importantly his science.

'Hey some of us have a long life a head of us old man' Rosen thought.

Hey Rosen, did you hear what I said? Rosen?
