Chapter 64 - You're different.

"What do you mean, not human? Y-you must be mistaken," Valerian stammered, looking away.

Dave fixed him with a piercing gaze. "You're like Kelvin, right? I know Kelvin isn't human, and I know you're not either. So tell me everything that's happening. Oh, and this isn't the first time I've seen Sebastian."

Valerian's eyes widened in shock. "Really? You've meet him before? and H-how do you know...?"

"Because you don't look human," Dave stated, his voice calm but resolute. "Look at yourself—your hair, your eyes, your entire aura. Apart from that, I can feel it. The same way I felt it the first time I met Kelvin. Something told me he wasn't...real. I mean, not human. My doubts were confirmed later."

"Confirmed? What do you mean?" Valerian asked, his tone hesitant.

Dave took a deep breath and began recounting his experiences.

"One night, I was woken up by loud noises from Kelvin's house. I looked out my window and saw this...beast-like creature standing in front of his house. I was terrified. I'd never seen anything like it before. But what confused me the most was when I saw Kelvin's mother trying to stop the creature from coming to my house. She fought hard, but it seemed determined to get to me.

"Everything became clear when someone shouted Kelvin's name. The creature turned to look, and the person turned out to be Sebastian calling out to him. That's when I knew—the creature was Kelvin. I saw him transform back into the Kelvin I know when Sebastian told him that what will he gain if he killed me and stuff like taht."

Valerian was speechless, but Dave wasn't done. "There was another time," he continued, "when I overheard Kelvin talking about being cursed. He thought I was asleep, but I wasn't. I heard every word. He said he was scared he might hurt me, and that he couldn't let that happen and that's when my doubts were clear"

Dave's voice softened, almost pleading. "So now I need you to tell me where Kelvin is and what's really going on."

Valerian felt a lump form in his throat. He hadn't expected Dave to know so much. "Why didn't you confront him when you found out his secret? Were you scared of him after that?"

Dave shook his head firmly. "No, I wasn't scared. The Kelvin I know would never hurt me. I trust him, and I love him. I don't care what or who he is—that won't change my feelings for him. I didn't tell him because I didn't want him to think I'd see him as a monster. He's no monster to me, and I want him to know that."

Valerian stared at him, awestruck. "Wow. Just...wow. You're incredible, Dave. Honestly, I thought you'd hate him or run away when you found out the truth. That's why Sebastian and I didn't want to tell you. But since you already know, there's no point hiding it anymore."

"So?" Dave pressed.

Valerian sighed. "There's a clan called Darkwater. They want Kelvin for their own selfish reasons because of what he is—an Unclaimed."

"Unclaimed? What does that mean?"

"Unclaimed hybrids are born from the union of two different hybrid species, which is forbidden. For example, if a dog and a cat were to mate, their offspring would be both—and that's not acceptable to any clan. Hybrids like that are considered abominations and threats because they possess too much power. Kelvin is one of those."

"But why is it forbidden? It's not their fault; it's just love."

"I agree," Valerian said gently. "But it's about power. The fear is that such hybrids could become unstoppable. To prevent that, there's a rule to eliminate any Unclaimed at birth. But Kelvin's case is different."

"How so?" Dave asked.

"Kelvin's real parents weren't the people you know. His mother, Drusilla, was a vampire, and his father, Leonidas, was a werewolf. They fell in love during a war and gave birth to Kelvin—a Vaewolf, the most forbidden kind of hybrid."

"Why is he the most forbidden?"

"Because a Vaewolf possesses the strengths of both vampires and wolves but very few of their weaknesses. He's considered too powerful to exist. Darkwater's leader, Arthur, sent Ortho to kidnap you, hoping to use you to lure Kelvin to them. When that failed, they targeted his real mother, who everyone thought was dead. She had been captured and tortured for years, and by the time Kelvin found her, it was too late—she'd taken her own life. That's why he went to Darkwater: to avenge her death."

Dave felt his chest tighten. "So that's why I'm here? Because they think they can still use me against him?"

Valerian nodded. "Yes. Arthur's guards are after you. Kelvin couldn't risk losing you too, so he asked Sebastian to keep you safe."

Dave sat in silence, processing the weight of Valerian's words. "And the curse? What about that?"

Valerian hesitated. "The curse...was placed by Selvara, the leader of the witch clan. She's also my master."

Dave's brow furrowed. "Your master? How?"

Valerian looked sheepish. "I was sent by her to capture Sebastian and get information about you and Kelvin. But...things didn't go as planned. I got captured instead, and now I'm stuck here."

Dave couldn't help but chuckle. "You got captured? That's rich."

"Don't laugh!" Valerian said, his face flushing. "Anyway, the curse... It was placed on Kelvin because, during his rampage after his sister's death, he accidentally killed Selvara's son. In her grief, she cursed him: as he took her joy, so would he be doomed never to find joy or love. Every time he falls in love, he transforms into a monstrous form and kills his lover."

Dave's breath hitched. "That's why he's been so distant..."

Valerian nodded. "Yes. But you—you're different. You've lasted this long without him losing control. That says a lot."

Dave felt tears prick his eyes. "I don't care about the curse or any of this. I just want Kelvin back. I want to tell him he's not alone in this."

Valerian smiled softly. "And I think that's exactly what he needs." He said calmly as he gave Dave a hug to comfort him.

" He has been through a lot" Dave didn't know when tears rolled down his eyes.

" Yeah, a lot!".
