Startled from a dream is dave, who awakens with a racing heart, beads of sweat on his forehead. Disoriented, he take a moment to grasp reality, breathing deeply to shake off the lingering unease from the dream.
Dave woke up startled, his heart racing from the vivid and unsettling dream he had just experienced. As he scanned his room, a sense of relief washed over him upon finding it empty and undisturbed. The memory of the guy's face in his dream lingered briefly before slipping away, frustrating his attempts to hold onto it. All he could recall were the details of silver hair and crimson eyes, which left an eerie impression on him.
Checking his own body for reassurance, he felt a lingering sensation from where the dream figure had touched him, adding to his unease. His mind raced with questions: Why had he dreamed of such a person? What did the dream signify? Who could this mysterious figure be?
The presence of the creepy house next door which happens to be The Cullen's home added a layer of uncertainty, making him question if there was a connection between his dream and the eerie atmosphere of his new surroundings. Despite his confusion, Dave couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to this dream than met the eye, leaving him unsettled as he tried to make sense of it all.
Dave looked around his room, surprised to find that it was already nighttime. He realized he must have slept straight through the afternoon; a rare occurrence for him. Adjusting his top, he got up from his bed and made his way to the bathroom, feeling the need to wash away the lingering discomfort from his unsettling dream.
Scrubbing his body vigorously under the warm water, he hoped to cleanse himself of the strange sensations he still felt from the touch in his dream. Once done, he threw on a loose hooded top that fell just above his knee and combed his hair before heading to the sitting room.
Upon arriving, he learned from the staff that his parents wouldn't be coming home tonight either. Disappointment welled up within him once more. Why hadn't they called him? A simple phone call would have sufficed.
Dave picked up his phone and was shocked to see twenty missed calls from his parents—ten from his mom and another ten from his dad. Gasping in disbelief, he scolded himself for blaming them just moments ago. Dialing his mom's number, it rang twice before she answered, her voice sounding slightly panicked.
"Hello dear, are you doing fine?" his mom asked anxiously.
"Yes mom, I'm fine. You don't need to worry," Dave reassured her.
"Why didn't you pick up our calls? We've been trying to reach you for ages now... I thought something happened to you," his mom replied, concern evident in her voice.
" No mom, you don't need to worry, I just slept off that why".
" Whew, okay that sounds good. How was your first day at school? Hope you got along?" She asked concerned
" Yes mom, the school is quite nice, I even got myself a new friend"
" That nice, that's very good. Have you eaten?"
" Just about to, how's dad? "
" He's doing well, he would have spoken to you now but he's in the bathroom" she informed
" Ohh" he said as he took in a piece of meat in his mouth
" Extended my greetings to him"
" Okay dear, Ah, the sport car you asked for will be brought to you first thing tomorrow morning"
" Oh!, Okay.. tnx"
" Okay dear, if you're done eating go straight to bed, don't be late for school"
" Sure mom. Bye, speak with you later" and with that he hung up.
When Dave finished his late dinner, the clock already struck 9 PM. He realized he had woken up at 8 PM, and now, feeling far from sleepy, he headed back to his room. Flopping down onto his bed with a heavy sigh, he couldn't shake the feeling of boredom that enveloped him.
"This place is so boring, incredibly boring. What do they expect me to do all alone in a deserted place like this?" he muttered to himself, gazing around his room.
Picking up his phone, he opened WhatsApp and tapped into the group chat his friends had created. It had been a while since he last spoke with them.
"Hello," he typed, hoping to reconnect and alleviate some of the strange feeling lingering
"Yo Dave, how you doing?" Andy replied instantly, as if he had been anticipating Dave's message.
"It's been quite a while now, Dave. How have you been?" Mia, one of his girlfriends, asked.
"I'm good, guys. I miss you all a lot. This place feels like I'm being confined in a prison," Dave complained.
"Aww, my poor baby, it must be really boring over there," Sophia chimed in sympathetically.
"Guys, you don't know how bored and creepy it is over here," Dave typed, snuggling closer to his big teddy bear for comfort.
"We wish we could come visit you over there... But it's too far, far away from Lyralis."
"Yeah, I know. I don't wish to live here anymore but I've got no choice. I just have to endure until my parents are done with whatever business they're here for."
"You can do it, Dave. We've got your back," Andy typed, which made Dave laugh.
"Okay, guys, let's chat tomorrow," Sophia typed, and they all agreed since two of their friends were already asleep and they enjoyed chatting together.
Getting up from bed, Dave went to the window and stared at the still locked window. Its glass shimmered under the moonlight, and the reflection of the crescent moon showed on it.
Despite his uneasy feelings about the neighboring house, Dave plugged his phone charger, lay on his bed, and covered himself with his large duvet. His conscience kept telling him someone mysterious was living there.
After an hour of tossing and turning, he finally fell asleep, silently praying to avoid another unsettling dream. Thankfully, the night passed without incident, and he woke up refreshed the next morning. He went through his morning routine, had breakfast, and drove happily to school in his new Ferrari sports car.
Today, Dave left home early, eager to get to school. He missed seeing the Cullens this morning, but he was excited about their dinner invitation later—it meant he wouldn't have to spend the day alone indoors.
As he drove along, cruising to "lovely" by Billie Eilish, he slowed down to make a turn towards his school when suddenly, another car collided with his.
