THE RAFT
"Move!" demanded an officer dressed in heavy-looking tactical armor as were the others. They all had a helmet on with a camera along with a ski mask covering their faces. He was accompanied by three other men also escorting the same prisoner who was held in cuffs and leg restraints.
"Please don't do this, he'll kill me. I'll tell you everything about the organization goliath just don't put me in here" pleaded Delilah trying to use her strength to stop them from pushing her into that cell.
"Yeah, yeah we've heard it all. Just stay quiet and enjoy your new home, here you'll have all the time in the world to tell us everything." responded the officer hitting her in the back of the head and pulling her towards her cell.
The hallway was made of black metal and each cell was a glass plane and door with some sort of scanner next to it. Every three cells led to a huge metal door that would open when the officers got close thanks to the control team.
Delilah continued to plead to the officers while she was dragged away. The officer scanned an I.D. card on the scanner and also took off his gloved hand placing a hand on it causing it to blink green and open with loud mechanical sounds following.
"Please, I'm begging" she screamed a tear going down her face before being pushed onto the floor of her cell.
"Welcome to your new home scum" scowled the officer before sealing the door closed again leaving Delilah to bang on the glass for no one to hear.
Her cell was plain and only had a plain bed in the corner and her only company was a camera.
"Look at this one. Was a stone-cold killer now she's crying like a baby when she finally got caught" Mocked a man. He was sat on his chair in front of a load of different buttons and switches. He was in the control room for SECTOR B along with another. He was staring at a set of cameras that showed all the cells and hallways watching Delilah break down.
"She got what was coming to her" replied the other. "The court case was so funny seeing her try to weasel her way out of it".
"To be fair, there was nothing he could do. It was like a heaven-sent gift worth of evidence against her. Like divine intervention." joked the other.
The camera on Delilah went static and the man rose up from his chair. He radioed a team "Hey, we have trouble with a camera on SECTOR B CELLS 34-36 can you go check it? I'll open the doors on your way."
"Roger" replied a voice from the radio.
Delilah continued to bag on the glass when she heard a ringing from her bed. Her face turned pale with fear, she instinctively knew who it was. She walked towards to bed and reached for the phone under the bed cover with her shaking hand. She answered and pulled it towards her ear.
"Hello, Delilah," said a voice.
"Boss, don't kill me just yet I still have use" pleaded a voice.
"What use is a shadow that is already seen? You no longer have any purpose and you know it, Delilah. It's upsetting really, you used to be one of our best but you lost to some nameless superhero who also uncovered everything about you." told the man while giggling a little at the end.
"Please, I won't fail again ju..." cried Delilah.
"shhhhhh. Your cries are heard on deaf ears. It pains me to do this, believe me, Delilah. If you just accept it, I guarantee it will be painless. It's the least we could do for one of our best. I thank you for your service. Goodbye Delilah, it was nice catching up" said the man before hanging up.
The door to her cell sounded open and gleamed green with a man in a black costume with a sign of a spider painted white on his chest. He stood tall and strong and his presence stunned Delilah leaving her shocked.
"The deathless one? He sent you?" screamed Delilah backing away from him while he walked towards her.
"It shows how much he regards you, Delilah. We truly respect you and your skill and I take great pride in being your executioner" replied the man in a deep voice. His red eyes could be seen from the holes in his black mask.
Delilah rushed towards him throwing a punch which he stopped with no effort. While Delilah screamed while trying to get out of his grasp he stood completely still, she couldn't even make him budge.
"You know you can't win Delilah, why bother? You know this will only make your death slow" the man replied to her screams.
"Let me go" she yelled and punched the man's side who still didn't move.
"I felt that. You've improved since the last time we fought, too bad it'll go to waste," he said and punched her chest before she could even comprehend what happened. She fell to the floor and gasped for breath as all the air left her lungs.
He grabbed her hair and threw her to the wall with a loud bang as she slumped on the ground and looked at the man. "I was having fun Delilah but I don't have a lot of time. Goodbye," he said before a yellow light came from his eyes. He shot a beam of pure energy towards Delilah from his eyes quickly burning through her flesh and bones.
He rang a contact on his phone saying "Mission successful, I'm heading back towards headquarters" before hanging up and leaving.
The camera came back on for the man to see "Oh, my god" he said before throwing up in a bin. A large puddle of blood and guts leaked on the floor with Delilah left with only a set of legs and half a face remaining with her skull showing on the other half with slight bits of flesh still clinging on. The wall behind her was black and broken.
A group of men charged in with weapons and could only look at the mess that was laid out on the cell floor.
For the first time in history, someone had infiltrated THE RAFT unseen and escaped. Killing an assassin with powers with complete ease setting it to be on full alert and security improved for the next couple of weeks.
They never knew what had happened to Delilah. Only she died painfully.
