Chantress Meraek is meditating inside the temple with a noble asking for her help to have good voyage since he and his family will be traveling abroad. Meraek, wearing her thin gown all bare without undergarments since she needs to be pure in front of the gods, is now in a sort of trance. Her eyes changed their colors from greyish green to greyish white, chanting, singing Saidi but the ancient form of enchantment.
Sometimes the Chantress would dance along with Shemayet that play music for the gods and goddesses instead of chanting hymns to assist the noble and grant his wishes. The gods and goddesses would answer through the smoke of the candle that the noble gave and offered for the gods/goddesses through the Chantress.
Anhemnotep asked the chief priest to hand Meraek to him since he wanted to talk to her about a very important thing, a proposal, since Henshupta is to be pharaoh. Usually pharaoh's are chosen through birth, born into positions that was assigned through strategic system such as elders, elite would select and vote for the remarkable and brightest figures in the royal line. If not, they can come as war heroes, members of the elite, or some favored positions in the Egyptian government.
Women also become rulers but usually it was men and son of the current Pharaoh that would inherit the title and go through training to become a good leader. There comes a time in the land's history that a powerful vizier (head priest) or a feudal lord assume the throne. Or sometimes an entirely new line of pharaoh's just like with Henshupta since Thutmose IV's line collapsed from civil war due to disrespect and not having total confidence in the leadership of the former pharaoh. Someone even if not a son or child of a pharaoh can reign and sit on the throne to lead it. Hatshepsut was the first woman to hold power as pharaoh in 1500 B.C.E. She took care of her people and built temples of the gods, public buildings, structures. As a pharaoh, she is considered a god or goddess for her people that's he couldn't marry a mortal. In ancient Egypt, pharaoh's are god's chosen to lead their people and maintain peace through-out the land. Incestuous alliances are very common among Egyptian royalty and has also influenced other European monarchies to hold power and pass the throne to their successors or in their royal blood lines and marry them just like the gods and goddesses, Iris and Osiris. A pharaoh is considered a religious leader who is the people's divine intermediary between the gods and the Egyptians. That's why a pharaoh's power is like the sun and moon rising for his people and the world.
Anhemnotep sat on the marble chair overlooking the huge statue of Amun-Re, in the Karnak temple complex located in Thebes. She is protected by Bastet called 'divine mother' and the Chantress stays there to glorify the gods through her. Aside from being Henshupta's dad, trader, he is also a scribe who records the stocks of food, court proceedings, wills and other legal documents, magic spells, and the everyday records of the pharaoh's life. Scribes function as peace keeper that holds the pharaoh's administration in order.
Anhemnotep stood when Chantress Meraek came in and greeted him. It's been a long time, Ammu! What brings you here?, Meraek (Nunnapura) said hugging Anhemnotep who was hesitant at first since men aren't allowed to hug a priestess since people highly venerate them as gods and goddesses' vessel for divinity and sacred messages coming from the heavens.
I'm good. You look beautiful as ever. But I'm here for an official business from the Pharaoh, Anhemnotep cried looking at Meraek in eyes of strict privacy, so she motioned to go through another room while the high priest is busy talking with the noble who just came over to ask for prayers of good voyage for his family. You have a very lovely voice, the noble uttered to Meraek who thanked him while escorting Anhemnotep to the other room adjacent to the temple's receiving area.
Official business from Henshupta, I mean, Pharaoh Henshu. What is it, Ammu?, Meraek now starting to be curious about Henshupta's message. She wants you to stay in the palace to be her personal Chantress and she wants you to come with me, now!, Anhemnotep said trying to sound calm but the urgency made Meraek's facial expression change from a smile to a snob. Why would she want me to come and stay there?, Meraek wondered and asked Anhemnotep who just shrugged his shoulders as the typical reaction of a thoughtful father for Henshupta. Alright, Ammu! I will come with you. I just need a minute to talk with the high priest about this. I know it wouldn't be an issue since they would probably push me to the pharaoh because she ordered it. Anhemnotep smiled and almost giggled but stopped himself since they are inside the temple, and temples are very sacred for Egyptians, noble or not, pharaoh or peasant.
At Malkata, the Was scepters and Medjay are already busy fixing the palace grounds and walls as if over-turning it to be as clean and grand as possible. Courtier Yuya oversaw the place and ordered each and every one to organize and see to their posts since Henshupta is arriving tomorrow morning for the celebration of her assuming the throne as pharaoh. She will be formerly presented to the people, so Egyptian Ground Forces are also warned and sworn to protect the pharaoh at all costs.
Prepare the food and spices, the gifts to our new pharaoh. We need to hustle up, go, go, go! Tuya, what are you doing? Go to your Momma, where is Nina, Madaam, please attend to your child, we are on a role. Ladies and gentlemen, please observe calm and precision. Our queen regnant is to come here and it's so exciting I wanted to cry happy tears!, Yuya said while the scepters are laughing and giggling with his strange twang. As part of the homosexual community, he can only make sure to not be known that since it's prohibited and not considered as pure for the Egyptian culture doesn't accept pr recognize such existence.
However, Henshupta understood every one and it doesn't matter if Yuya is gay or if she likes girls or even has a crush with Nunnapura who is now called Meraek.
Hmm!!! Merek is not a bad name for a beautiful chantress. I never heard of Nunna sing, but does she have a good voice. I would ask her to sing then, no, maybe just chant magical enchanting words to help me not like her in the sense that I want to kiss her lips and lay with her…ahhhhh!
