Chapter 93 - Hachijo Island Battle - 3

19: 21 (39 minutes to the next explosion)

SNA control room, Academy Building, New Eden

Overlord was still standing at the podium and giving instructions as SNA soldiers all over the world tried to search for all the nukes.

One soldier suddenly said from down in the control panels, "Sir, we're getting a radio request from a secured channel."

Overlord asked, "Which channel is it?"

"It's the Bravo line, sir."

Overlord said, "Put it on the main line."

Sohel's voice came from the other side. He said, "This palace will soon be overrun by Pheonix company soldiers. So, I'll make it brief. I'm telling you the location of the nukes right now. Be sure to mark it."

Overlord said, "What are you talking about? Where are you?"

Sohel replied, urgency in his voice, "I said we don't have much time. Just listen to me."

Overlord said, "Track the line. Ghost, continue."

"The seventeen locations with the nukes are: Hans Ottostraße, Berlin, Germany; Washington Square Park, New York, USA; Japan National Stadium, Tokyo, Japan; St. Basil's Cathedral, Moscow, Russia; Parque Centario, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Fontana di Trevi, Rome, Italy; Pardisan Park, Tehran, Iran; National History Museum, London, UK; National Parliament, Dhaka, Bangladesh; Chestnut Nature Park, Singapore; Marine Drive, Mumbai, India; Samsung Tower, Seoul, Korea; Bellville, Cape Town, South Africa; Maison Tavel, Geneva, Switzerland; Real Jardin Botanico, Madrid, Spain; Allan Gardens, Toronto, Canada; and The Palace Museum, Beijing, China."

The line cut before Overlord could say anything. He said, "You heard him, lads. Get to work." He looked at the soldier who he had ordered to track the line and asked, "Do you have the location?"

"Yes, sir. It's coming from the Hachijo Island."

"Show me the satellite footage of the island."

The soldier nodded, and a few seconds later, a screen showed an aerial view of the island. As Overlord saw the footage, he unconsciously murmured, "What the heck is going on in there?" He quickly turned around and said to a corporal standing at the door, "Corporal, dispatch the Hunter team to Hachijo Island; let the Sabers assist."

The corporal saluted and left.

19:36 (24 minutes to the next explosion)

Ito's office room, Hachijo Island

Sohel cut off the line and looked back. He said to Naoki, "Now they have the locations. It shouldn't take them long to take care of the nukes."

Mimi looked at Ito with a smug smile and said, "You hear that, Ito? You failed."

Ito looked back at her and said in a soft voice, "Did we?"

Just then Jacob entered the room and said, "Uhh, boss? We have a problem."

Everyone looked at Jacob and was horrified when they saw Jacob being held hostage. His helmet was broken, he was bleeding from his forehead, he was unarmed and most importantly, a Phoenix Company soldier was holding him from the back with a pistol aimed straight against his head. The soldier yelled, "Everyone, drop your weapons. Or else, I'll blow his brains off."

Everyone obliged and slowly put their weapons down. But that was only for the moment, as the next moment, Jacob suddenly yelled, "Now" and ducked down. This made the soldiers face an easy target, which Mimi made full use of. She fired a bullet, aiming straight to the middle of his chest. The soldier's dead body fell to the ground like a sack of potatoes.

Jacob fell to his knees. He took off his broken helmet and said, "Ah. Thought I was a goner."

Just then the whole room shook with a barrage of loud thuds somewhere close. Sohel said, "Damn that old man. Naoki, Mimi, and Lola, you three should leave now."

Lola said, "Wait, we? Aren't you supposed to take us as prisoners?"

Sohel said, "I am the prisoner now. What you did was a misunderstanding. And then you helped us. Consider this as your payment."

Another barrage of large thuds shook the building again.Naoki said, "OK. Don't think you're being abandoned, dude. Let's go."

Naoki, Mimi and Lola left the room. Jacob was still sitting. He was about to get up when he suddenly heard a faint metallic noise. He quickly looked back and saw that the soldier wasn't dead. With his last remaining life force, he had pulled the pin of a grenade. He couldn't throw it, and the grenade just rolled forward a few feet in the ground.

Jacob yelled, "Grenade."

Sohel ran towards the grenade, but he was late as Jacob had picked up the grenade and tried to throw it down the corridor. He was able to throw it, but the grenade exploded before it could get to a safe distance away.

The knockback of the grenade threw Jacob away as Sohel saw Jacob's plate carrier getting blown to bits. Jacob's body hit the wall, and he fell down. Sohel ran to Jacob and tried to wake him up.

"Blast, Blast, wake up. Oy? ARIA, what's Sgt. Blast's vitals?"

ARIA replied, "It's faint, but he's alive, captain. He needs emergency medical support."

Sohel yelled in his comms, "Mitali, get back inside now. Jacob needs immediate medical support."

At that moment, suddenly Kuroshima's voice came from a speaker hidden somewhere in the room. He said, "It's just karma, Captain. I never thought you'd be able to foil my plans like this. It's just karma."

Sohel yelled, "Shut up, you coward. Come and stand in front of me if you have the courage. You're just a fucking monster."

Kuroshima replied, "Am I? Captain, how many of my men did you kill in the last hour? Let me answer that question: Your squad has killed more than 500 of my men on this island. Then SNA came in and took out everyone else. Who are you to call me a monster? You even made me lose one of my best men. Dr. Satoshi Ito was a good man, captain. He wouldn't have died today if not for you."

Sohel quickly looked at Ito, as he was sure that he was alive. But his eyes widened when he saw the dead body of Dr. Satoshi Ito sitting on the chair; if not for the handcuffs behind him, he would've fallen down. There was blood coming out of his ears and nose.

Kuroshima said, "You shouldn't have picked a fight with me, Captain. I'll make sure you and your squad regret this decision for the rest of their lives. Good bye."
