Sam's sudden move drew everyone's attention to his face.
Sam knew this wasn't the best solution, but it was the only one he had at the moment.
On such a special day, he didn't want anyone to get hurt tonight, even though it seemed inevitable. So he had to resort to this.
He also knew Sophie would understand his intention and that his acting wasn't particularly convincing.
But he was the only one who could do this now, and he had no reason to stay out of it.
As he picked up the jade pendant, Sophie's brow furrowed slightly.
"You don't have to do this. If she doesn't want it, she can give it back to me."
"Sam."
Angel spoke up, looking at him.
Sam paused and looked at her.
Then she extended her hand, "This is my gift. Why are you taking it?"
Sam was a bit worried she might take the pendant and break it in front of everyone.
She didn't seem to care about social niceties or giving face to anyone.
