"Sam, don't you want to?" The voice on the other end of the phone filled Sam with confusion.
"It's not about whether I want to or not... Keep you company? Why are you suddenly saying this?"
Sam was sure this was another of Isabella's 'schemes'! This girl just liked to speak recklessly, causing misunderstandings.
"Eh? Can't I? Sam... don't you want to spend some time with me?"
"If you keep talking like that, I'm going to hang up," Sam said, clearly annoyed.
A muffled giggle came through the phone, then Isabella hummed lightly, "Why? Doesn't this kind of talk make our relationship seem closer?"
"We're just classmates, there's no need to be so close."
"Sam, saying things like that will only hurt people. So I'm that unimportant to you..."
Sam chose to hang up the phone in response to that statement, not even waiting for her to finish.
A few seconds later, the phone rang again.
