Chapter 10 - Comfort For Failures.

Chima laid on the 'bed' made of surreal foam tired, heavily injured and utterly exhausted both mentally and physically.

The comfiness of the foam normally would have made her forget her plight but instead made her brood even more.

There were two things she'd learned today, 1: level 2 was a bitch.

2:The Abyssal Dome idea wasn't really a bad one.

She could see why the Creators had made it.

The level 1 game was supposed to be her last one and she had passed it.

'Seems like level 1 is pretty easy, level 2 is gonna be a breeze.

' She had thought. And she had decided to play another level as she hadn't spent alot of time playing level 2, so she still had time.

But that thought had been squished as she realised the only difference between levels was the harshness of the environment.

In level 2, her skin had been smarting slightly, the mosquitoes there were the size of rodents and the marsh reached her waist.

Coupled with the harassment from other players, it was a nightmare.

And she hadn't been able to pass it of course.

In the end she had played 5 times.

At her 5th try, there had been an announcement that the day had ended and the night had begun with a limit of 2 hours.

Chima had taken some things into consideration before attempting her next try.

First was the fact that she adored her sleep, another was that she had to play this level, to try.

Because as it was nighttime now, there would be less players around and significantly a higher chance of going to level 3.

But the memory that the 2 hours nighttime would feel like 8 settled her decision to play level 2 again.

Although less players, the small basal tiered nocturnal beasts were awoken and she was restarted again.

Tired and greatly injured she gave up temporarily and took the hidden option: Hostel.

In an instant, she was transported to the extremely large Residence Abode, there were 62 Abodes which housed the players.

Chima was transported to one of the porter circles, there were many others, the entire places was night blue and dark and the players were either idling around, talking, jesting or some just headed to their rooms.

The place was gigantic and the walls where convex.

The ceiling were extremely high.

It seemed like there were four floors each but there weren't actual floors that separated them but the four storeys were left open instead they were long rounding stairs all over the place from the top to the bottom, all entwining in the middle at the third floor, there were also transport cubes.

Dark transparent spatial cubes that flew you to your room.

On the walls weren't doors but thousands of numbers on the walls indicating a players number, all the owner of a room had to do was put their palms on the number plate and a door would open where the number once was and they could enter.

All these things Chima was too exhausted to wow about, it was a good thing her room was at the ground floor, so she drag her feet to her number and entered her household.

The room was medium sized and had convex walls too with dark blue spatial design.

The room was semi-dark and empty except for a large rectangular thing of the same colour floating near the wall.

It was most likely a bed though and as Chima went near it, it lowered until it came to the level of her knees and immediately she fell on it heavily.

As soon as body hit the bed, she felt the softness and comfort of it like no other.

It fitted her physique perfectly, hard but soft enough and the temperature was just right.

It felt like lying on a cloud in heaven tailor made for her.

After all it was made with surreal material.

Chima would have basked in the comfort of the bed but for the rare dark clouds that surrounded her and her painful injuries.

She still hasn't made it to the second level and was wounded severely, she didn't know how to conduct a healing session so couldn't heal herself.

She couldn't fight like Kiran could, didn't know the basics of this Game and in short didn't even know what she was doing and her goal.

If it wasn't for Kiran's gun, she wouldn't even be able to last a second in level 1.

It reminded her how she usually depended on her parents money and connections to pass highschool and even University.

She slapped her face.

"Ow!!" She forget there was a deep cut there where a mutated river otter had bit her.

She sighed, this was another world, she knew she couldn't really depend on the gun because it wouldn't do much harm in higher levels and against higher leveled competitors---

Well that was if she was opportuned to come within 5 meters of their range.

She needed to learn to fight without this gun and make a way, not just for Kiran but for herself.

But from the look of things, there seemed to be no step by step ways to do that.

But she needed to persevere still, afterall when there's a will, there's a way, right?

'Right.'

Chima nodded.

But for now she needed to find a way to heal her wounds.

Truly she felt depressed.

'There's nothing that would lift up my spirits at all here.'

"Players in about 5 minutes, your nutrient mediums will be delivered to you from one threshold to the other. Please go to your rooms and be patient. Also remember not to be outside your rooms while your nutrient mediums are still being delivered."

Chima, despite the soft bed and her painful wounds sat up in excitement.

Even the system's voice which she thought was the last thing to lift up her spirits was the first this time!

Nutrient mediums! She knew what that meant!

'FOOD!!'

Chims patted her stomach which she'd now realised was empty and suffering, in anticipation.

But she quickly remembered that this was another world where everything was different.

The food would definitely not be any different, so she dimmed her happiness but still harboured small expectations of the food.

She waited and soon she heard squishing noises along with clanging noises coming near her before it stopped in front of her threshold.

A small square opened at the lower part of her threshold and an invisible hand pushed in a dark grey square food flask. Chima took a breath in and stood up to get the meal.

She rubbed her palms together and opened it.

'What the----! Heck is this supposed to be?'

She looked at the black blob jelly looking thing that was apparently supposed to be her meal, and shook her head.

She didn't expect the culinary art of this world to be-----Wholly disappointing.

She remembered how she had took on a job as a food critic that had actually suited her well, restaurant strived to impress her with their culinary providence.

She had a blessed tongue that could detect even the smallest amount of ingredient in a meal.

And a ravenous appetite too.

That seemed to be her talent, tasting and eating.

A talent that found her.

And now she was faced with this dark blob of disgustingness.

She shivered and brought the flask closer to her face and took a sniff.

It didn't have a smell or even an aroma and was also dead cold, great.

But the was a partition that kept a small boxed space in the cooler.

She opened it and almost went giddy with happiness.

Crackers! Although they looked about three to four biscuits inside, still crackers.

She took on immediately and took a bite.

Dry, as she liked it. Stony, unlike the ones she had had. No taste or salt or sugar whatsoever.

Still before she realised it she devoured all of it.

She sighed in sadness, she was still hungry and for now she'd have to eat this thing.

So she decided to freshen up first and see if there was a first aid in the bathing room.

She stood up and looked around but there didn't seem to be another door aside from the one that led to the halls.

She walked to the walls and started examining every part of it.

Until she came across a black thin inconspicuous line that ran from the ceiling to the floor.
