Silas was helpless under her pleading gaze. He couldn't bring Ellie to the hospital. At the same time, he couldn't see Esme disappointed. He thought for a moment, searching for a solution, and then a smile slowly returned to his face.
"I have an idea. We'll do a video call later. That way, you can see her without worrying about anything." He brushed a tender kiss against her forehead. "Right now, I need to call the doctor."
Esme gave him a small, grateful smile, and with that, Silas slipped out of the room.
After some time, a doctor entered with a nurse, offering Esme a gentle smile. Silas wasn't with them.
"Good morning, Mrs. Sullivan," the doctor greeted her. "How are you feeling now?" He checked her pulse.
"Better."
The doctor's expression remained focused as he asked, "Do you feel dizzy? Any discomfort?"
Esme winced. "The pain is still there. It intensifies when I move."
