Tad's entire body trembled with terror. At first, he had assumed Arthur and his men were behind his abduction, punishing him for failing to stop Dexter. But he was totally wrong. It was Silas.
His breath caught in his throat, and he gasped, trying to form words, but they slipped away. Raw fear reflected in his eyes.
"Tad," Silas's voice was cold and menacing. "You hurt Mr. Shaw, dared to challenge the Sullivans, and then thought you could escape? Did you really believe you could walk away after crossing us?"
"I-I was forced," Tad stammered, his voice trembling. "I didn't have a choice. Please, let me go. I'll tell you everything."
He was grasping at straws now, trying to negotiate his way out. Maya had been already exposed. She would soon lose Luis's favor. Once Luis Bass had pulled his hand back, Maya and Arthur were nothing. Tad saw no reason to stay loyal to Arthur. He hoped that by revealing what he knew, Silas might spare him.
