"Yes," she sniffled, her voice trembling just enough to sound convincing. "I heard he met with Silas's lawyer. He is planning to expose my past affair with him... I don't know what else he is plotting." Her grip on Luis's hands tightened as she feigned a sob. "Luis, I'm scared."
"Don't be," he assured her. Luis's expression hardened with determination as he gently patted her head. "No matter what tricks they try, Silas won't be getting out of jail."
