On the drive home, Silas dialed Esme's number. She answered after just two rings, her voice sharp with frustration. "Silas, are you coming? If you're not, I'll go shopping alone."
"I'm on my way," he assured her hurriedly. "I'll be there before you know it."
As soon as he hung up, Silas revved his sports car and sped down the road, the powerful engine roaring as he made his way home in record time.
Upon arriving at the villa, he quickly rushed inside, where he found Esme sitting on the sofa, her expression glum and her mood unmistakably sour.
"Hey, sweetheart," he greeted her with a forced smile, trying to mask his nervousness. His heart pounded as he met her fiery eyes. "Shall we… go now?"
