"Esme!" Silas called out as soon as he stepped into the house. He wanted to talk to her about something important.
No answer.
He stalked towards the bedroom, calling her name again. "Esme! Where are you?"
Dropping the briefcase on the sofa, he stepped toward the bedroom. He entered the bedroom, but she was not there either. Planted in the doorway, hands on hips, he muttered, "Has she gone to Adelynn's house again? This woman…" He rubbed his temples, annoyance twisting his features. "I asked her to wait for me at home. Can't she just listen to me?"
Removing his suit jacket, he threw it down on the bed furiously. Worry simmered beneath his rising temper. Here he was, concerned for her safety, while she flitted around town, ignoring his pleas.
