Chapter 125 - Don’t leave me.

Silas held Esme close, but she remained rigid. Esme didn't move nor did she say a word, her mind a whirlwind of conflicting thoughts and emotions. Despite the intimacy they had shared, a sense of unease gnawed at her. She had succumbed to Silas's advances although she had resolved to stay away from him for the time being.

Wasn't she upset with him? 

Frustration bubbled within her. How could she have allowed herself to be swayed so easily? She wondered, her mood heavy with self-reproach.

Silas sensed she was still mad with him even after their fiery intimacy. His expression softened, his fingers gently stroking her hair in a silent gesture of apology. "I know you are upset with me. I am sorry I yelled at you," he murmured.
