Chapter 86 - The unexpected endearments

Silas stared at Esme, his expression a fascinating blend of confusion and astonishment. Her actions baffled him. Just moments ago, she had flung accusations at him, accusing him of flirting and harboring intentions towards Samira, and then she asserted her authority over him, reminding him of the agreement they had signed. The rapid oscillation between accusation and affection left him feeling like he was walking on shifting sands, unsure of where he stood.

Silas was confused as to what exactly she wanted from him. 

"What exactly are you implying?" he finally asked, baffled. 

Esme, hyper-aware of the two women still stealing glances their way, sidled closer to him and linked her arm with his. "You called me your girlfriend, didn't you?" she queried, her voice carrying a hint of a challenge.

Silas' gaze dropped to where her hand rested on his arm, his bewilderment intensifying. 'What game is she playing?' he thought, his eyes narrowing in suspicion.
