Chapter 68 - You still trust her?

When Esme came out of the building, her gaze fell upon Julian's parked car across the street. With a resigned sigh, she made her way over, her senses on high alert as she scanned her surroundings. Unlocking the door with a click, she slipped into the passenger seat, her expression stern as she turned to face Julian. only to meet his smiling face. 

Esme made a stern face and asked, "How did this happen? Weren't you with her?" 

But Julian evaded her question, opting instead for a lighthearted response. "Thank you for coming," he expressed warmly, his smile unwavering as he started the engine and pulled away from the curb.

Esme's panic surged as she realized they were moving, her apprehension mounting. "Where are you taking me?" 

"Relax." He smiled. "I am not kidnapping you."

"Bad joke. It's not funny at all." Esme slumped back in her seat, her arms crossed defensively over her chest.
